Run by the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts brand, The Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica All Inclusive packs plenty of distinctly "local" touches. Colonial Victorian facades overlook the quintessentially-Jamaican beach at Runaway Bay, and there are no 'guest rooms' here, only luxurious suites. Float beneath the starry sky at one of the three inclusive pools, test out the in-room hydro-massage tubs (in selected suites), or chow down at one of the five on-site restaurants. The Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica is an all-inclusive resort, so the majority of amenities are covered with the cost of a stay, though some fees and restrictions may apply.
Highlights
  • 850 guestrooms
  • 3 lake-style pools
  • 9 bars
  • 6 restaurants
  • Wi-Fi available
  • Spa
  • Conference space
Neighborhood

In the surrounding area, guests will discover hidden cenotes, water-filled caves that invite serious scuba divers and casual snorkelers alike, and parks like Xcaret, that give you a chance to enjoy the clear currents of a calm lagoon in a more naturalistic setting than found at any waterpark. Nearby Chichen Itza is a World Heritage Site, which includes The Castle, the Pyramid of Kukulcan and Juego de Pelota. The Sacred Cenote is a spot where the Mayans apparently made human sacrifices, and should not be missed by lovers of history, macabre and otherwise.

Hints and tips
Don't leave without putting the Jerk chefs at the hotel through their paces: the locally-spiced chicken and pork dishes are fine examples of Jamaican cuisine.

Relaxing honeymoon

We arrived at the resort to celebrate our honeymoon. The overall experience was good as it created the atmosphere for us to relax and enjoy. However, we felt that in some areas the level of service was inconsistent. The food was great! There was always something for us to enjoy at the buffet. We would recommend this resort and will certainly visit again in the near future.

Need Authentic Jamaican Foid

The hotel experience was good. It is a large resort---lots of walking. We expected more authentic Jamaican food--the food was more American food--the Jerk Hut was as close as you got to Jaimaican food and it was not that spicy. The ala carte restaurants were average. The omelet a at breakfast were great!

As advertised

Grand Bahia Principe was a great value for the money, the room was spacious, especially the bathroom. The pool area was exceptional, one long meandering pool which made the resort seem less crowded. One complaint was the lack of A/C in the restaurants but we were warned going in (as advertised). The food was average we did the Garden House (steak house) one night (average) and the Japanese restaurant 2 times (above average). Outside of resort seems much older than 8 years old I guess the weather is a factor.

Great trip

Went for 5 days. Staff was warm, helpful, charismatic, and accommodating. The site was kept very clean, and the pool was almost as nice as the beach. We would definitely stay here again. Here are some things we wish we had known. The night life wasn't stellar for the younger crowd. You are allowed "x" # of a la cart meals per nights spent. Book all these your first day or else they're hard to get in to. Get beach towels early as they are in short supply later in the day. Call the hotel for airport travel. The tours agent found us a deal for $20 / person to the airport vs the $100 for a taxi.

All-inclusive is the way to go!

My family was very impressed with Grand Bahia, and we will definitely be coming back. We stayed for 5 nights in August. The junior deluxe suite was perfect and had a beautiful ocean view. The hotel is very clean and well kept, and all the staff were exceedingly friendly. Even just walking across the hotel grounds, every single staff member (from landscapers to waiters to managers) we passed greeted us with a smile and a friendly greeting. The food and drinks are truly all-inclusive and there was never a shortage of either - even room service is included. The only things that were less than perfect was there are no ice machines for guests to get ice for their rooms, and the main buffet was very hot and uncomfortable. We kept having to ask room service to bring it, or get a bag of ice from the bar to bring back to the room (they were happy to do either, but it was still a pain). And the buffet is indoors in a large banquet room, but all the doors and windows are left open (to allow the ocean air in I suppose). It gets very hot in there making it uncomfortable to eat because you are sweating profusely. The good news is there are other options for lunch including the beach-side grill which serves delicious jerk chicken.

Definitely try Mikado, the hotel's a la carte Japanese restaurant. The service and food are AMAZING. And the chefs at the hibachi grill will keep you thoroughly entertained.
