Run by the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts brand, The Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica All Inclusive packs plenty of distinctly "local" touches. Colonial Victorian facades overlook the quintessentially-Jamaican beach at Runaway Bay, and there are no 'guest rooms' here, only luxurious suites. Float beneath the starry sky at one of the three inclusive pools, test out the in-room hydro-massage tubs (in selected suites), or chow down at one of the five on-site restaurants. The Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica is an all-inclusive resort, so the majority of amenities are covered with the cost of a stay, though some fees and restrictions may apply.
Highlights
  • 850 guestrooms
  • 3 lake-style pools
  • 9 bars
  • 6 restaurants
  • Wi-Fi available
  • Spa
  • Conference space
Neighborhood

In the surrounding area, guests will discover hidden cenotes, water-filled caves that invite serious scuba divers and casual snorkelers alike, and parks like Xcaret, that give you a chance to enjoy the clear currents of a calm lagoon in a more naturalistic setting than found at any waterpark. Nearby Chichen Itza is a World Heritage Site, which includes The Castle, the Pyramid of Kukulcan and Juego de Pelota. The Sacred Cenote is a spot where the Mayans apparently made human sacrifices, and should not be missed by lovers of history, macabre and otherwise.

Hints and tips
Don't leave without putting the Jerk chefs at the hotel through their paces: the locally-spiced chicken and pork dishes are fine examples of Jamaican cuisine.

Food,Beach,Pool, Drinks and running on Jamaican Time

Great food and beach. Best excursion was the catamaran !! #1 party boat the chukka !!! only complaint i have is people are running on that vacation time and theyll get to you when they get to you. Our hotel was not ready for us when we got there and had to keep our bags with the concierge, for atleast 2 hrs. Also everyone is running on tips, tips, tips ! They have no problem asking you for tips or the stuff from your hotel room lol Overall a good vacation tho , the beach and jerk chicken are to die for <3 love it.

You can do better

My stay here was not good. To begin the first day I got to the hotel, I was told that the ocean room view I wanted will not be available until the following day, so they have me a standard room with a broken shower. I kept it and when I went the following morning to get my room change they told me the room upgrade is not available and offered me free room service for not keeping their promise of my room upgrade, they also switched my room to another one down the hall with a good shower. The new room had a refrigerator that smelled like rotten food and a couch in it that smelled like mold, but didn't mind it to much I figured I won't be in the room much anyway to use the refrigerator or sit on the couch. When I finally decided to try out the free room service that they offered me they told me I was not enrolled for the service and I can't get it. On my 5th and last day at this hotel I called the front desk and asked what are my options, since I have a late flight and check out is at 12 pm, they told me I can pay $10 for every hour that a choose to stay past 12 and I can pay the difference before hand at the front desk. When I went to the front desk they treated me like if I was lying about calling the front desk and told me that the room will not be available for additional time. Besides that the wifi in the hotel sucks. They give you 60 min a day only and it only works in the lobby. The drinks are all watered down at the hotel bars, the food is nothing special, and restaurant options are limited most of them require a reservation and they told me that I was there at a busy time and I'm only allowed 2 of them. Most of the staff is very unhelpful, I tried getting a cab in the main lobby to go to margaritaville, they pointed me in the direction to some guys hanging out on the hotel grounds, not affiliated with the hotel who were a total rip off. Hotel location was far from everything about 1hr 30 min from the air port and at least 45 min from anything. A trip to ricks cafe took me all day to get there. Jamaica has a lot of beautiful sights to experience, just choose your hotel wisly.

Great Time / Wedding 2014

We had our wedding on October 16th, 2014 at the Grand Bahia Principe in Jamaica and it was a great time. We had been there in 2009 and loved it so it was only fitting to return for our wedding. The Resort is in great shape and the employees are constantly painting, cleaning, repairing anything that needs attention. The food was as expected. As we were not in the US we expected the food to be differently prepared, seasoned, etc from what we are accustomed to so with that said it was great. We did enjoy the adults only buffet more than the other buffet as it was quieter, cleaner, and less crowded, not to mention the food was better. Our wedding was better than we expected. We had our reservations as we were not able to see the venue, restaurant, food, cake etc before we arrived but everything was great!. Our wedding planner Kalfani Barton was on top of every little detail and ensured us not to worry and enjoy the time. He was a great help with everything and took all the stress off our shoulders. My now wife was the happiest bride on our wedding day and would also agree with me that our expectations were blown away. Thank You Kalfani! A suggestion for anyone either planning to get married at the Grand Bahia or thinking about it is to talk to the Photographers onsite. The price is great compared to any photographer in the US and are true professionals. We had to the pleasure to work with Adrian Dobson and our pictures turned out amazing! Our wedding day was sunny but hot and our wedding party including ourselves were very hot and uncomfortable but Adrian was able to help us through it all and find the best shots. The pictures were ready in 3 days and we were able to bring them home with us. Everything else wedding related was great, the DJ O'Shane (I believe, but could be wrong) had our wedding party going the whole night and made it great! Overall the resort is a great place to be! The pool is unbelievable and the beach is crystal clear. The drinks poor all day and night and the night entertainment was always great. The Ska disco was very fun and a good time as well. Make sure to stop at the burger hut on the way back to the room to re fuel after a night of drinking!

If traveling without children make sure to eat at the adults only buffet. Avoid Don Pablo as well. The food is ok but a long process to eat dinner.

Relaxing honeymoon

We arrived at the resort to celebrate our honeymoon. The overall experience was good as it created the atmosphere for us to relax and enjoy. However, we felt that in some areas the level of service was inconsistent. The food was great! There was always something for us to enjoy at the buffet. We would recommend this resort and will certainly visit again in the near future.

Need Authentic Jamaican Foid

The hotel experience was good. It is a large resort---lots of walking. We expected more authentic Jamaican food--the food was more American food--the Jerk Hut was as close as you got to Jaimaican food and it was not that spicy. The ala carte restaurants were average. The omelet a at breakfast were great!
