Mother-daughter get away

Beautiful hotel, very nice and helpful staff. Room wasn't as clean as we'd have liked, bed wasn't as comfortable and smelled. Food was average - lots of starch, few vegetables and fruit. Specialty restaurants a bit better quality than buffet. They closed a few restaurants for weddings while we were there, which lessened our choices. Felt disappointed about that.

Simming with dolphins at Discovery Cove - great experience, but very rushed. Bring along an underwater camera - CD and DVD of experience very expensive - USD$140 for both!!! Ouch!

Great getaway!!

The resort is really great! It's big, so expect some walking to dining areas, beaches and pools. As adults, it was really fun!! The swim-up bars were wonderful, the pool areas and staff were great! Buffet food was definitely above average and the seated restaurants were very very good. The room was spacious and every day there was a cool thing on our bed made out of wihte towels (ie swan, fan, heart) with real flowers in it!! We will definitely go back! It's a really super resort!!

getaway at Bahia

Overall we were happy. The room could have been a bit more inviting. The coffee pot did not work and the pillows and mattress left a lot to be desired in the comfort area. The common areas were clean and well kept. The food in the buffet was good but we did eat at the Grill one evening. We both ordered the rib eye and it was so tough I tried 3 bites and had to spit them all out because I could not chew the meat. I know you do not go there for the beef, but I did expect something a bit more palatable.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

If you go to Ocho Rios with Jamaica tours, they will drop you off at their selected site with high end jewelers and junk t shirt shops. Ask about the market or where else it would be safe to shop at.

Family Vacation

The hotel was clean and the pool very nice. No wait staff around the pool area? The pool area bar tenders need improvement. Power keep going out at lease 5 times while we we there. They never refilled our refrigerator in our room? Vacation was just OK a little disapointed.

Couples Getaway

Our 10 day vacation to Gran Bahia in Runaway Bay, Jamaica march 31-april 10th was an awsome, awesome time. We have been to Jamaica numerous times and I have to say that it is very comparable to the 5 star Secrets, Wild Orchid resort and much better than the other AI resorts in Negril and Montego Bay. The beaches were great. This resort had 3 beaches: nude, relaxing beach with calm blue waters, and a snorkleing beach. This was a mega resort with a lot of people and the staff did an excellent job in accommodating everybody's needs. My wife and I had a great time and we look fwd to going back asap. I highly recommend this resort for a family stay or a lovers get a way. Also, it was very safe and comfortable to go off the resort in Runaway bay. The people of Runaway bay are very nice and you are a short taxi drive to the world famous Dunn's River.

Definatley reserve a couple of nights at the Don pablo restaurant. Pretty good AI alacarte dinning. The Grill was nice too. If you go off resort to eat. Try the Jerk center that is a couple minutes taxi drive from the resort. They have great jerk and it's very cheap. The spring garden and sharkies is very nice too. Sharkies is right on the beach and have great seafood: shrimp, lobster, and konk.

Great Holiday

The hotel is very pretty, beach is awesome with three different parts: snorkeling area, huge swimming area and then the small nude beach area. The staff were all very friendly and we had a lot of options for food, even with me being a vegetarian. There are a few very small time slots were it's hard to get a meal, like between 6-6:30 pm or from 10:30 am to noon (for those late risers) but there are cookies or croissants in the lobby so it's not a big deal. We were still eating constantly at this resort so it wasn't a problem! The entertainment by the pool was great, the nightly entertainment was ok. I've seen better but I've also seen a lot worse. We still watched most the shows and enjoyed ourselves. The nightly live music in the bar is also a good option to check out before/after a nice dinner. Very relaxing! The only issues we really had were with getting clean beach towels. There never seemed to be any available and we'd have to check back several times which was annoying. Also, all the deck chairs around the beach are taken by like 7am but that happens at any resort you go to. Overall, it was a really good hotel to stay at and we had a great time! One last thing to keep in mind when booking is that there is a $6 a day charge for the in room safe but we still thought the resort was worth the money paid.
