When booking the room we asked for two beds and to our surprise there was only one bed>> we went to the receptionist for everyday of our stay to have us move they will tell us the same answer every day "there is nothing available today but tomorrow" (mind you people were leaving daily ) tomorrow came and went and still in the same room...also in the location is at is far for any shopping or entertainments had to pay a taxi to take us which turn out to be EXPENSIVE and for it to be an luxurious hotel the light from the shower was falling off!

Honeymoon

Our honey moon to the gran Bahia was amazing. The hotel is huge and I was pleased with it. I wouldn't rate I a 5 star but defiantly a 4 star. The only reason I wouldn't rate it a 5 is because the hallways and elevator smells like mildew and the bathroom had mold in the cracks of the tile. No big deal, we didn't dwell on it, it's jamaica mon!! Everything was good. First trip to Jamaica but we've stayed in Mexico & Dominican republic many times at other all inclusives. The food was best here than any others. I liked how large the resort is, there was always something going on. The jerk chicken on the beach was our favorite. The resort had its own shoppin center so we didn't have to leave for anything. The beach was beautiful, we didn't care for the man made part but if you walk farther down that was our favorite part. The employees were nice. The drinks were good. We did get selected for this time share thing which was kind of annoying, but we got a Jamaica basket with rum, coffee, coasters, rum cream & jerk chicken sauce, so we sat threw it. They tryed to talk us into buying into their "gold" program, when we said no a few times they finally backed off. Ive never had this happen to me at an all-inclusive, but we could have said no. Over all we had an awesome vacation and I didn't want to go home. Me and my husband are easily pleased we've only stayed at 3 & 4 star resorts before & we have always been happy. This hotel didn't rate any higher than anything we've been to before, but I didn't expect to stay at the ritz carlton at the price we payed. We want to go back to jamaica but would probably check out a different resort in a different area, maybe Negril. Runaway bay is its own area and there isn't much to do close by. We were both happy with it for our first trip to Jamaica.

Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica

My wife and I visited the Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica from Jan 9-16, 2012. This was our 7th trip to Jamaica and our 1st to the GBP. Overall I would give them a 3 star out of 5. As most have reported before, the resort is large, with man-made beaches. Check-in was smooth and we were on the 3rd floor of the 18000 block. Nice balcony view of one of the bays and ocean. Room was in good shape and kept very clean by housekeeping. Bars were average in my opinion. Food was average to not-so-good. Buffet items were usually lukewarm and appeared to be put out quite a while before the buffet open. Selection was not that great. The specialty restaurants that we went to were the Grill House (Poor), Don Pablo International (Pretty Good), Mikado Japanese (Fair). Snorkeling off the beach was pretty good. Clientele was mostly Canadians and Europeans. The Canadians we met were all pretty decent folks. The Europeans for the most part were rude to staff and other guests and tended to let their kids run wild. They also had the mistaken belief that lines were for others to wait in and they tended to butt in line. Entertainment staff was poor. All activities seemed haphazard. For the price we paid it was a nice get-way, but would probably not return to this resort.

Good Stay

We stayed in the hotel for second week of January. It well worth the money spent. A few weeks before vacation we emailed to hotel for special restaurant reservations and also called to request building 18 (to be as close to beach as possible). All our requested were satisfied. Rooms are big and spacious. Service staff works hard. Beach is beautiful. Overall it is not over the top property, but well worth the money spent.

Runaway Bay in January

Truly outstanding...this our 5th all-inclusive experience and our best. The Gran Bahia Principe is beautiful...the rooms, the pools, the food, the drinks, the activities, the staff...just great. The beach is very long...not deep and sandy, but the views are outstanding. Second time with the Grand Bahia...will go again. The evening entertainment on the main lobby is extra special...high quality and beautiful setting. A five-star experience.

Gran Bahia 12/11

Just returned from the Gran Bahia Principe on 12/23/11. I must say up front that the common areas, lobby and grounds and pool area were breathtakingly beautiful. The rooms themselves were just average and we stayed in the gold club rooms supposedly their VIP rooms on the top level. Simple things you would expect from Motel 6 did not happen for us at the Gran Bahia. We did not received any wash cloths until well into our 2nd day as they ran out. Our 2nd day we did not received any face towel as they had ran out. The bathroom door would not lock and the toilet broke and would not flush. Once we reported the problem with the toilet and the door, they were fixed promptly.

Magnificant Vacation

My wife and I just returned from our 10 day vacation at the BHP Jamaica and we had an amazing time. First off the Hotel is massive and very well kept, the people and service was great except for the lady that gives you your winnings at the Sports Bar. We had a great time meeting the staff especially the lifeguards. Tyrone and Robert were very interesting and we really enjoyed Jamaica from their perspective. Our room was 18515 and it had an amazing view of the bay and was very clean and well kept. Our Maid was great, she kept our room clean and fully stocked. Tip...take some dollar store stuff for the maids, it goes along way. We have travelled to many different places and this Hotel will be hard to beat. The pool area was massive and very well kept as were the grounds. We spent the majority of the time at the beach wherwe simply soaked up the sun and swam in the beautiful crystal clear water. The booze was great and always flowing at each bar, great staff and if you want Vodca and lemonaide ask for Jamaican lemonaide. If not you will get Sprite. The food was great with each night being a different theme. The food was always full except the am bacon. Had to wait around many times for new supply but really who cares. We did the Dunn's River Falls excursion and it was a blast. Buy water shoes at the Shops and not in the hotel store, you will need them. Overall the trip was better than expected. We stayed from Dec 1st-11th and would return in a heartbeat.
