Riu Ocho Rios All Inclusive

Nice hotel, very clean, lots of food. Nice beach. Fully stocked refrigerator and bar in the room including bottle water. Difficulty getting reservation for the restaurants. Two wash cloths per room, housekeeping takes them to be washed and then brings them back later in the day, consider bringing your own. Otherwise nice.

We came on this trip with another couple and had a great time! We were able to watch my friend's sister get married, which was beautiful! Would definitely go again! This was an all inclusive resort so we did drink..ALOT. Service was good, there always seemed as though there was someone there to take care of you. Just make sure you tip. ;). It's not like they expect it but it nice to do. They were nice and upgraded us when we got there. Not that it was a huge upgrade but we had a jacuzzi, a little sitting area, and a flat screen. We also had a card key to get into our rooms where our friends didn't. Two things that could have been better: 1. Food. Make sure you schedule your dinners. Buffet can get really boring 2. Liquor. If you don't mind the cheap stuff you will be fine. Go to duty free and get your regular stuff.

Overall a nice experience if you don't mind a COLD shower every day. Apparently there was work being done on the piping system the week we were there, or so we were told. How about putting a clock and/or coffee maker in the rooms?? Resort staff was very helpful and courteous.

The Riu Ocho Rios is a beautiful place. There were many weddings during our stay, so obviously a lot of people view it as picturesque. The lobby looks great, the grounds are well kept, the beach and water are right off a post card. The rooms are nice but have a little mildew smell. However, that probably comes with the territory in the humid climate of Jamaica. The bed was hard by my standards, but I didn't really have any problems sleeping in it. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The big negative for me was the food. While it seemed to be beautifully prepared, it wasn't that good. Almost every dish seemed to lack something or taste slightly off, as if the base products were of low quality. The liquor selection was also poor. While they offer any drink under the sun, the booze was far from top self. With that said, I ate and drank well. I would highly recommend any "station" they set up. If an individual chef makes your dish or drink fresh in front of you, it will probably be great. If you get it from the buffet or a pre-made bottle, it will probably be a little disappointing. The "reservation only" restaurants were kind of a joke. First you had to stand in line to make a reservation. They show you an impressive sounding menu for each restaurant before you choose. They also make it seem like they are extremely booked and it is very hard to squeeze you in, if they can at all. The second night we were there we had reservations at the Asian restaurant, but they couldn't get us in until 9:15pm. After eating the mediocre buffet food for a day and a half, and waiting until 9pm to eat dinner after a long day in the sun, we were extremely disappointed to walk-in to find that it was merely an Asian buffet, a poor one at that, and no one was even there. It was almost empty. We even saw the hostess turn down a couple who didn't have a reservation, even though the place was only about 20% full. To top it off, some of the items promised on the menu weren't even offered. The "gourmet fine-dining" restaurant was also disappointing and honestly the general buffet had better food. They basically just use a nicer place setting, and serve you at a table. This place was also not close to being full, even though it was hard to get a reservation there as well. For the money, I would rank the Riu as a 4.5 out of 5 stars, but I would not call it a five star place. As long you don't have very particular tastes, I think you'll enjoy your stay.

Just returned on 5-8-12. Had a great time. Entertainment group was phenomenal. They made the trip. Plenty of activities for the entire family. Food was pretty good. Jamaican cuisine very good. Everyday!! Not the best RIU I've stayed in but great for the price.. Pool needs to be cleaned & painted, beach really needs cleaning. To much seaweed & debris.. RIU must step up to the standard its known for. Other than the beach & cosmetics of the pool my stay was awesome. I would really recommend this hotel. They just have to tidy up a bit.

Had an awesome stay at the Riu...staff was more than friendly and made sure they took care of us every step of the way. Food and liquor was a bit boring after awhile but I guess you can't expect much better from an all-inclusive resort. But still great! Definitely recommend to ppl!

We had an awesome time, loved the area. Room was little smelly and it took forever to get it cleaned. Other than that everything was phenomenal even though it rained.

HOTEL HAS NO CLOCKS ANYWHERE.POOL CHAISE LOUNGE CHAIRS ALL NEED REPLACING.NO PREMIUM BRAND LIQUOR.

Entertainment was awesome. All of the employees were so nice and welcoming. Location is the only downfall for this resort being it's a couple of miles away from downtown Ohco Rios. It was an all-around nice vacation and you couldn't beat the price.

Me and my husband recently stayed here for our honeymoon ... after reading the reviews on here I was a lil scared but i'm glad we picked it !! The hotel was beautiful , beach was perfect , service was awesome I truly have nothing bad to say about The Riu , we will definitely be back !!!
