Traveller's Beach Resort/Hotel

Overall the hotel was OK, clean. Staff was friendly. However, only downside, they claim they don't have keys for the safes in the rooms. Your option is to rent a mobile safe for $5.00 a day. We said we'd put our money in our friends safe in their room, they said the same thing. No key. Seems as though they are trying to make extra bucks where they can. The safes should be offered at no charge. They did have a maintenance guy that said he would replace the safe, but they are all looking for tips for everything they do. Shouldn't have to tip a maintenance man to replace a safe that is broken or has no key. The next day talked to a different person, she said same thing, rent a safe or the other option was to put your money in their safe behind the desk. They have camera's. I don't think so. I wouldn't trust anyone their with my money. I personally wouldn't go back. They have little beach, it's all been washed away by the storms. Negril in general is dirty and everyone has their hand out hassling you constantly. Trying to sell you weed or aloe vera they plucked from a plant near by.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

If you stay at Travellers, walk directly across the street to the little shack in the back. Little old lady out of her home/shack kitchen cooks the best fried chicken you'll ever have, and it's cheap, $5.00. Don't be afraid of the unsightly location. It's good.

Negril

The hotel was extremely loud, there were people walking around outside banging on the doors. The water wasn't working when I woke up and it had just turned on by the time I was ready to check out. When I pay for a hotel, I expect to be able to shower and brush my teeth in it too. The staff at the front desk was friendly, at the bar they took no notice to you.

16 day stay/multiple trips - family owned business - the selling point for me is their community involvement. Great location to walk anywhere on the 7 mile beach, beautiful sea, some beach erosion but next door beach property allows you to set up there, great pool, hot showers, cool air, quiet rooms for sleep, great balcony. Nice and efficient staff, food - authentic delicious homemade to order and average price, Brkfst 7-10 bucks, lunch and dinner follow usual scale. Very reasonable. I will be back !

Unpleasant experience!

The room A/C doesn't work. It takes the housekeeper forever to clean room daily. If you want to save money, place a reservation here, other than that, don't go there. Also, the Karaoke is loud and obnoxious. The restaurant has karaoke from 7-2am, seems like it ends whenever they feel like it. So out of place! Drunk and obnoxious customers is all over the place at night. Can't sleep esp. when they have karaoke nights. Unreal and uncalled for! Never again will I book another trip to Jamaica here at this hotel.

Very good value

Travellers is a modest but great hotel for the money. It is in a good location within walking distance of downtown, shopping, nightlife and dining. Travellers has a restaurant & bar, small nightclub open for special occasions, computer room, gym, spa, pool & jacazzi's & dive shop. I would be happy to stay there again & recommend it to others.

Average for Negril

Was just OK not great. I am sure it was once quite the place but is now older and not well maintained. Food was just OK if they weren't "out" of it. Watch your money as the exchange rate was $86 J but they only paid 80. Charged for every cup of coffee and different price for drinks each time you get one. Nice beach.

Excellent staff, great price, however, we had to change room because of the odor in our first room

The entire staff was excellent. We had to change room because of the odor in the original room. The front desk staff were very accommodiating and apologetic. Overall this was a great hotel for the price.

My review of Travellers Beach Resort

The staff was very friendly during the check-in process and during my visit however I was a bit dissapointed in the room. Their were no mats on the floor in the room and the toilet was stopped up. The size of the bed was not sufficient for a comfortable stay (1 double bed) The patio was a nice touch and brought some abiance to the room. The pool and restaurant areas were nice.
