Still recoving from our trip.

A tremendous disappointment!

All four of us got a food-born bacterial infections and were in bed for days with high fever, chills and bad stomachs. The hotel initially tried to tell us that no one was sick and it was viral but by the time we left over 18 people were sick including 3 wedding parties. We confirmed it was from bacteria at the hotel and people had been sick for days before we got it. By the time we left management still had not told the staff or been honest with guests so there was no way to control it. I read on a popular travel web site that recommended this hotel that over half the resort ultimately got sick. Also, the beach is closed and gated at 7 so we missed the best part of the sunsets, you need a crossing guard to get to the beach which is across a busy road from the hotel and the hobie and sailboats were all broken. The advertising for this property is misleading. We would not recommend going there unless you bring your own antibiotics!

Welcome to our worst vacation EVER

All four of our party became ill along with other unrelated guests. Some guests were ill before our arrival and others became sick after we left. We had no contact with these other guests. We suspect the bacteria/parasite was in food contaminated by someone working in the resort kitchen. The staff was not forthcoming with the true numbers of guests who fell ill and we received no compensation for days spent in bed unable to leave our hotel room because of our illness. Our worst vacation experience ever.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly

Staff was very nice. The room was terrible, hot, air conditioner was "hit and miss", very poor lighting in room and bathroom, we were always running out of hot water, no refrigarator in room or coffee maker. Only 2 places on campus to eat (buffet, and restaurant which was only open on select nights with the same menu every night) would not ever think about returning!!!

Great Place to relax

The resort was very nice, clean, and quiet. The beach was not nice or clean, it could use lots of improvements, plus it was across the street and only open from 7am to 7pm so forget about seeing the sunset or walking on the beach at night.. The food was just ok ..nothing to write home about. The same breakfast buffet was served everyday and was always cold. Lunch on the beach was good when they didn't run out. Dinner was just ok ..nothing special. The entertainers at night were not good...that had the same band 3 nights in a row. The servers were slow ..It always took to long to get a drink at the pool bar and it really should not have. The resort only had about 50 people in it while we stayed there. Go somewhere else. Next time I will.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Go into Negril and have dinner at the Rock House. The food was awesome ...and you can watch the sunset while having dinner...get there by 5:30 for the best seats.

Not Happy At All

My husband and I came here for our 25th anniversary. The experience was horrible from the beginning. As I arrived at the airport I thought I would soon be at my hotel to relax, unfortunately for me, my hotel was a 5 HOUR taxi ride away from the hotel costing us $300. I cannot believe that the option of landing at an airport 5 hours away from my hotel was even given to me. [...]The hotels service was okay, but there were literally 18 people on the resort, it was too quiet. There weren't any shows it was very lonely at night we were back in our rooms really early. The food wasn't that great either. The people working were really friendly and nice. They helped us find a cheap flight to our airport. They genuinely felt bad that we had such a horrible experience getting there. If your looking for a very calm, early night kind of vacation, it's ok, but take a book or something. otherwise I wouldn't really reccommend it. It was in a forest like environment which was really beautiful, but there were a lot of bugs.

Sunset Review

Overall this resort was a good value and a nice experience. The bungalow style rooms allowed you to stay close to the natural wonders of Jamaica and still provided enough shelter to make you feel secure. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was decent, albeit repetitive. The beach is right across the street and is gorgeous.

Make sure you have enough small bills for purchases and tips. Some places only give change in Jamaican dollars.

Nice......But could've been better

I thought the resort was beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Rooms were very nice, beds were comfortable, and the staff friendly. That being said here are a couple of things that I felt could've been better. Food- Pretty repetitive menu..I guess I just expected to be wow'd, and never really felt I was. Drinks- I was surprised that they only offered tapped beer..no bottles. This made it difficult to take any drinks back to the room with you, and left you with a long walk for refills. A fridge in the room would have been a nice touch too.

It was OK

Overall, the resort was beautifully maintained, the food was pretty good and the staff was friendly. However, they had given away our room for the first night and we were downgraded, which was disappointing to say the least after 9-10 hours of travelling. We also never could get a straight answer about transportation or shopping areas from the staff if we wanted to go anywhere off of the resort.

The hotel is nice- slightly rustic and unique. Friendly staff and beautiful grounds, great workout area with free yoga classes. The food was good. The style of the rooms make you feel like it's your own little cabin. The windows are screen and shutters (not glass) so you hear everything and when they spray for bugs... watch out! Crossing the highway to get to the beach is a drag, but easily done. We do not like the big resorts with all the bells and whistles. Overall, we would go back to this place because the charms far outweigh any inconveniences.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

It works best to hire a cab (outside the gate) and driver for the day to go out'n about, especially if you hook up with another couple and share the expense. Your driver will stay with you and give you lots of good info. Can be a much better experience than a tour.
