Riu Palace Tropical Bay All Inclusive

Overall this was a great vacation worth the price, landed in montego bay with zero problems, made it thru customs and before we knew it on the way to the resort. Once arriving at the resort we had a quick and easy check in and went straight to our room. Our ocean front room was on the first floor and we enjoyed the views, The location is pretty good, wonderful location on the beach, beautiful views, everything was wonderful. Only complaint about our room was the musty smell but after a few minutes with the air on and fans going the smell went away. the staff was friendly and warm and receptive for the most part. the entertainment staff tried their best to keep the guest entertained. Only complaint we would have is the constant vendors walking up and down the beach but a simply no thank you was all that was needed, would we go to negril again YES, back to this resort maybe not as we would like to see other resorts and what they have to offer. As far as the food on the resort would go, the buffet was acceptable but we felt this could have been better but it is on par with other resorts we have been to in the past.

All in all, everything was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful; the rooms were comfortable and clean; the beach and pool were very good. As for Food, we had mixed experiences. The buffets were plenitiful and of good quality. Our resturante experiences left room for improvement as to the quality of the food. Some parts were quite good and some were quite bad.

The hotel was clean, the food was fine - the cuisine choices one had were outstanding. The staff of the hotel truly tried to make your stay enjoyable! The pools, at times, became a bit crowded, but it was Easter break week, so the number of children and teenagers around was perhaps more than usual.

Just returned from seven days at the RPTB. We had a wonderful time. The beach was beautiful. Clean beach, blue water NO PROBLEM. Food was very good. The buffet was great, especially the night they had lobsters. The other restaurants were very good. We ate in all four (our least favorite was the steak house) Krystal and the Japanese were our favorite. The breakfast buffet was great. The jerk chicken hut was fantastic for lunch, however the other lunch buffet choices were also very good and changed daily. The drinks were top shelf, very available and as strong as you wanted them. Beer was Red Stripe light and regular (Presidente was put in the mini bar in the room). The staff is extremely friendly and hardworking. The grounds and the rooms were very clean. Someone was always cleaning, landscaping etc. Overall this was a wonderful resort and we will be back next year.

Beaches and pool area were beautiful! The food at the hotel restaurants was also good. However, the hotel staff were very rude and unhelpful. Whenever there was a problem with the room they said there was never a bell boy around to help us and we had to fix the broken item ourselves. Room service was very limited, if we needed something they often would not bring it to us and we had to go and get it. The lack of service definitely put a dark cloud over what would have been an awesome vacation.

Overall it was a great trip. Nice layout at hotel. Great beach.Food very good, and the weather was great. One small complaint - was only able to book one dinner as they were all full. That tells me they should add another seating at some places, or add another eatery. Enjoyed the trip !

We were traveling as a family (2 adults, 2 children -10 and 12 years old). There were plenty of children, but the hotel led activities were geared to an older crowd. It didn't matter because we enjoyed the beach and water activities so much we didn't need to be "led". The hotel staff were excellent. All seemed particularly cheerful. Many other reviewers commented on getting better service by giving tips. I think the service was great despite tips, but the tips were certainly appreciated. We were upgraded upon arrival from ocean view to ocean front. Sitting on the balcony looking at the beautiful scene before me was one of my favorite things. I gave room comfort a 4 vs 5 because it seemed there could have been more towel racks and places to hang the wet things so it didn't get so cluttered, but otherwise it was so great. The fridge full of drinks and the coffee maker in the room was a great help to enjoying our balcony. The overall 4 out of 5 was related to the food. The location, beach, cleanliness is a 10 out of 5, but the food is okay. It certainly looked good and there was plenty of it, but it didn't always taste as good as it looked. We totally missed the restaurants because we waited until Wednesday morning to make a reservation. By that time all restaurants were filled. The buffet was great for breakfast and okay for lunch and dinner. Jerk chicken hut was enjoyable and easy. The beach as I mentioned was our favorite. There were plenty of chairs and shade so you didn't have to hold chairs. The free water sports were easy to use, though we were staying very near to where they were located to watch for when the boats were returned. It may have been more difficult if you were located on the other side of the complex. We absolutely loved the scuba offered as an extra next to the hotel as well as the sunset boat cruise to Ricks. Vendors on the beach were no problem, though once you started negotiating with one, they felt ownership of you and it was difficult to "shop around". Again it was a great trip.

We were really surprised when we got to Montego Bay and our hotel was 1 1/2 hours away from the airport. We were not expecting this.

It was beautiful in every way but one: The dinners are tooo late and it was very difficult to make reservations due to the weddings at the steakhouse. Also, If people didn't show up for their reservations at a restaurant then they should still fill them up if there are people waiting. 3 nights in a row we were turned down in the restaurants even though there were empty tables. We complained several times . The buffet was incredible ! Otherwise the staff was wonderful and we were glad to tip generously!
