Wonderful

We loved the location, the people, the beach. The food is ok and there are other places to eat. Having everything we needed right there was perfect. I was so impressed with the friendly, welcoming feeling of the hotel. The staff take the time to get to know you. We had many wonderful conversations. After the first day, they would set up the umbrella for us without us needing to ask. I appreciated not feeling completly cut off from life in Jamaica. People walked the beach selling their wares, but it never was aggressive. [*] At night, we walked up and down the beach and found some great music. Many of the rooms are across the street and there was a traffic person to help you cross. I wish it wasn't such a busy street. When you got to your room, it was quiet and peaceful. The rooms are simple(no shampoo) and clean.I hope to return next year.

It's o.k.

I really hate giving bad reviews. I didn't have a horrible time, but there was nothing about this hotel that I would recommend. The bed was hard. People often say that of hotel beds, but this is the first time I've experienced it to this level. You have to exchange your towels at the front desk because the maid does not do that for you. There is no hair dryer. You have to pay over $3 a day to use the safe, and it's not located in your room. Oh, and be sure to bring your dirty towels to the front desk with you when you check out. A TV remote is not provided automatically, you have to check it out. I don't know if you have to pay for it as well, because we did not ask for one. The food was o.k. You have to walk through the restaurant to get to and from the beach. The pool is super small. The stone/cement walkway gets extremely slippery when wet. There are permanent signs in place warning you of that. I don't know whose genius idea it was to use that material since it rains so often in Jamaica. Be sure your shoes have good traction! The restaruant staff are usually quick to assist you.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Take a short cab ride to Cosmo's for dinner. It's the best food in the area. Even better than the food at Sandal's.

Great location and large rooms

Very happy that I did not take the all-inclusive package as i would have hated to have eaten all my meals There! Wonderfully warm and friendly staff. Location was perfect. Rooms were large and clean; lovely large terrace with tropical plants. I would definitely return to this hotel again. Great bargain for the price and just steps away from the lovely Carribean, water sports and local food on the beach.

The hotel was not what I was expecting.

The hotel staff at the front desk was very impolite. The hotel was old, but it was in a great location. The food and drinks was good but the rooms was below average ( but you get waht you pay for). I went during the raining season and when it rain, rain would travel underneath my door and flood out my room.I call the front desk to take care of the problem and they said they will bring towels to get up the rain once it stopped raining. Other than that, Negril is great. Just watch out for the locals ( they over price everything). Negril is about an hour and a half away from montego bay.

legends in negril is quaint and awesome

everyone was very friendly and helpful. they provided everything that we needed and more. the place was quiet and secluded and had an awesome beach. great location in negril, you could walk to town or just stay on the beach. very clean rooms and clean beach. we totally enjoyed our trip until the flight home which was a nightmare with northwest/delta, they were rude, unaccommidating, and the maintainence on the planes was poor and delayed us at every location on our return home. no one would even come out and talk to all the angry passengers. passed the buck.

Is it Legends or Rumors?

I did my homework before we left, so I new what to expect wen we got there. I believe this saved my vacation because the hotel ( advertised as a resort ) took some getting used to. Thankfully it was cheep! I strongly recommend anyone considering Negril, Jamaica read all the reviews they can about whatever hotel they are considering.

The pits

I have taken several trips to Jamaica and had a fabuluous time. This trip was great but our hotel was aggravating. It all started when our room accomodations was switched because they did not have a room with two beds and stuck us in a room with one bed and called it an upgrade. Then we had to sign an iron out when we wanted to use one. The housekeeper didn't even us a change to return the iron becasue she came knocking on our door for the iron. Let me give a visual of the iron. There was a tape on where you would put water in the iron stating do not put water in it and the iron cord was taped up all the way around. It was a bit frightening to use. Did I mention that our television did not work from day one. The hotel made an attempt to fix it but only changed the tint when they brought it back. These mishaps weren't that bad until I was in the shower and the water went off. YES OFF!!!! I was aggravated even more so when I got out the shower to call the front desk. The front desk clerk said it would be another 10 minutes before the water would return. I would have liked to have been notified earlier. Then the light went out in our bathroom. They came to repair this and then broke the light fixture and this could not be fixed until the next day when we were leaving. Overall this hotel sucked. I complained both to the front desk and the office manager who did not apologize but exclaimed he was only aware of two of the above mentioned problems. I requested to give him a walk through our room and he declined. I was aggravated. If it wasn't for the location right on the beach this hotel would have nothing going for it. This by far is the worst hotel I have ever stayed.

Avoid Legends

This location is equivalent to a US roadside motel. It was not as expected, very outdated. My initial reaction was panic. The rooms were dingy and outdated. The staff varied in friendliness. The grounds people were friendly; the front desk staff was not. [...] and the security team were friendly. We had to carry our luggage to and from the rooms. We had to take towels to the front desk to change them out everyday as house keeping does not. Safes were available for $3/day at the front desk and only accessible for a short period of time. The pool on the garden side was never cleaned. The pool on the beach side was. The beach area is very small and shared between the sister property. To get a chair, you must be there before 10. In the end, after being horrified and using disinfectant on everything, we tried to make the most of it by staying out of the room as much as possible. There's a man roasting chicken out front and several restaurants within walking distance either way. Times Square Mall is nearby with jewelry, souvenir and convenience type stores. Several clubs are nearby. This compares in no way to any other hotel I've stayed. My last trip I stayed at Grand Palladium. I would NOT stay here again nor do I recommend it to anyone who desires basic hotel amenities such as towels. While at one of the local restaurants for lunch, a gentleman drove up and asked us questions about our stay. We told him candidly and he responded he'd had several complaints and now had to do something about Legends. We asked who he was and he said the Tourism police.

Peaceful,safe,fun,clean,quaint resort.

I love this little resort. Both the Beach and Garden side are great. The staff are nice and the food was good. It's very laid back, but very professional in taking care of their guest. If I could change anything it would be the music in the restaurant.I want to hear the local music. Your room and your personal effects are safe. Everyone takes good care of you from the guys on the beach to the security guard that helps you across the street. The housekeepers are sweethearts and the front desk will help you with anything you may need. The pools are sparkling clean and the garden is beautiful. Paul runs a tight ship but everyone including the staff are happy and relaxed.I heard other guest talking about how much they were enjoying their stay at Legends.I am always sad to leave this peaceful little piece of paradise. I'll be going back to see my friends at Legends very soon.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

A small shop with food and drinks is a short walk from the front gate. Find the Rastaman Soup vendor across the street from the beachside and have soup like you've never had before.Look for the red, yellow and green push cart under the big tree. Somedays he cooks rice and peas.By the way-he only cooks Sky Food or as we call it,vegetarian.
