Met up with our two adult sons for Christmas and it was just right for what we needed

We had a great time, the hotel building is in need of some repair but it was always clean and tidy and in working order, it felt very homely and comfortable. The view from our beach front suite was to die for -probably 100m from the shoreline.Didn't go to the pool once. The beach wasn't a surf beach but always flat. Although the usual brigade were out reserving their beach lie-lows or floating mattresses for the day we always seemed to get what we needed later in the day (getting up early to mark our territory is not our idea of beach etiquette). Played lots of table tennis and pool and used the hobby cats quite often -lots of non motorised stuff free to use and lots of swimming. There was a rocky outcrop area near the beach where you could snorkel - lots of fish and coral so close to the shore. Now the resort has an OC area of its own and a nudist beach to the side but honestly this wasn't an issue and in no way confronting. All the staff were happy and helpful particularly the entertainment crew Shanique, Samantha and buddies (sorry for spelling). Performers were first class. Would have liked the buffet to be open for evening meals more often - when it did it was great , the theme restaurants got a bit monotonous - but we were there for two weeks. We did venture out of the resort to Ricks cafe (by taxis) which was great and the Margarita Bar but otherwise stayed at the resort - feel a bit guilty about that but we were happy to stay in.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

go to the front gate to get a car and driver and bargain a bit, usually get them down 30 from asking price easily - but really pretty cheap so we didn't push it eg Ricks Cafe and return was $40 paid on return (about a 20min trip each way and 2 hr a the cafe) -

Couples only

The place has great potential. It is a beautiful spot. The food was good but I didn't like the short time they give the guess to eat. For bread fast 7:30 to 10:30 and they didn't start until 8 am and by 10 am they were picking things up. The glasses at the main bar at night were dirty with lipstick so watch out other than that it good. Love the do recommend the martini bar the bartender was great and clean glass. :-)

Much needed getaway

1st time there and have traveled all over. The ocean is best I have ever seen. Yes, a bus ride aprox was 1.45 hours but the views made the trip seem much shorter. The folks at the hotel were SO GENUINE when wanting to accommodate to assist you. They cared about their guests and would anything to make you enjoy your stay. Shevelle at the main buffet took care of seating us and getting me my morning mimosa - out last day there was my birthday and she made sure I had champagne and she also made this most beautiful bouquet of flowers from her garden. So unexpected, word got around it was my birthday and everyone was so attentive to wish me a happy birthday - it was like they appreciate everyday of life. The hotel was SO relaxing and the beach - well never seen anything better. We saw the most beautiful fish and stingrays walking the beach - you could touch, if you dare!! Everyone had smiles and much peace. Our room was beachfront and well worth every penny spent! so fantastic - however the balcony was very small and difficult to get in and out.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Pay for Mo Bay - VIP Lounge - you gave to leave the hotel early, my flight was at 2:25, had to be out front of hotel to catch bus at 9:25. This allowed for the distance of bus ride and to pick up other passengers along the way. Once we got to the airport, all we did was check in at the kiosk (we did carry on so we did not have to stand in a 2 hour line to check bags) then went directly to the VIP Mo Bay, they got us thru immigration and customs at the front of the line and took us to the VIP lounge where we had full bar and food (that took maybe 20 minutes!!)- we had aprox 3 hours before boarding so well worth. They do have an adult lounge separate from families w children under 18. The place even had a mini spa and showers for convenience!! Would NOT recommend this on the way in - you are on a schedule and do not benefit from the services if you are getting in before noon - their time.

Nice Hotel

Stayed at this hotel in July 2014. The grounds are very pretty and clean. The rooms were clean but we had to constantly ask the room keeper for amenities such as shampoo, soap, towels, etc. The food was average. The pools and jacuzzi s are not used very often because most guests use the ocean. Snorkeling around the hotel was good.

Will definitely go back

Great location on Bloody Bay -- beautiful beach, blue water and great snorkeling. Rooms are not fancy but are clean and comfortable. Ours was first flood and on the water so the French doors were handy when we wanted to relax on a chaise under a tree in front of our room. Food was good. Lots of variety at the buffet. I am a picky eater and always had plenty to choose from. This was out first time to Negril and we want to go back. When we do, it will be to the Grand Lido Negril.

Cabin Fever

Another great trip to GLN. Quick 6 night getaway to get of the snow. Flights were great arrived in time for the beach we spent the next 5 days stuck in sand gravity. The resort looked better than last time and the food we better as well. And the staff was the best ever what a great team!!! We will be back in September.

Great Stay at Grand Lido Negril

We really enjoyed our 1 week stay for the following reasons: 1. Location, resort layout and beaches were wonderful. 2. We enjoyed sailing the Hobie Wave catamaran every day. 3. Snorkeling was wonderful. 4. Had a great room near the nice clothing optional beach. 5. A great long sandy beach for beach walking. 6. Staff were friendly and accommodating. 7. Food and restaurant selection were great, especially the Jerk Lamb prepared by Derrick and Japanese style served by Robilee. Although we had no complaints, this resort was built as a high class resort, and could use a few minor fix-ups, and re-decorating here and there..
