Good, but not stellar
The facility is lovely and the rooms clean. There were a few minor nitpicks that kept it from being great: - The hours of various facilities were strange, such as the pools, hot tubs, and some bars closing at five then reopening at eleven? It seemed arbitrary. - Beach towels were scarce and require a card to reserve one. Lose the towel and you're out $20. I've never seen that at an all-inclusive before. We weren't actually able to get one until well into our second day there. But those are pretty minor. The staff was excellent, particularly the entertainment. The beach is gorgeous and the food was varied.

Nice hotel, right on the beach with plenty to do at and around the resort. We got a garden view room, wasnt the greatest hotel room but we had a decent bed and overall wasnt dirty and bugfree.

Great Value - But Pack Your Patience
First, let me address the positives of this resort: 1. Itās five minutes from the airport. 2. The location is beautiful and it has very nice beaches. May others (Sandals) close-by have no beaches at all. 3. Lots of lounge chairs and places to relax. 4. Strong drinks and good island food. 5. Most (if not all) rooms have a view of the ocean. 6. The price. Now let me point out the negatives: 1. The pool entertainment is LOUD and the āquietā pool is nearby, so it really isnāt āquiet.ā 2. The nightclubs are LOUD ā so loud that the windows of our room (107) shook until well after midnight. Bring earplugs. 3. The staff (with the exception of the greeter) are very slow. I understand that the culture is laid back but nothing happens quickly ā from getting a drink to getting a room. 4. The staff at the activities desk are just plain rude. One of them even cursed at my husband when he tried to get a life vest (my husband didnāt know that you had to sign it out separately from the snorkeling equipment). All in all, for the price it was a good resort and great for a long weekend retreat.

The Hip Strip is nearby, but the prices are crazy unless you haggle. $18 for sunscreen, $18 for travel coffee mugs, etc.

Moved to Runaway Bay Decameron
The Montego Bay hotel is a good bargain for the money. But, at midweek we found a flyer under our room door offering a change to the Decameron at Runaway Beach, on the North side of the island, for no additional charge. We accepted and were better pleased with the amenities at Runaway beach. Food in both places was the same, 3 stars level. But ocean, pools, and rooms nicer at Runaway. Our room faced the ocean with the pounding surf. Lovely.

Worth the price
The staff was really nice and they are great about making sure you have plenty of drinks! The location can't be beat and the hotel was clean. The hotel had fun music and the food quality was pretty good. You can snorkle right in front of the hotel which was really nice. Rooms need a little updating/repair but I would certainly stay here again and recommend it for the all-inclusive aspect.

A great couples getaway.
Can not complain about anything. The hotel is very clean, the staff very freindly and helpful. The room we had was always maintained. although it was very simple and plain. But that was not a problem with us. For it was still very comfortable. The food was well prepared, but we would like to see a little more of the local dishes on the menu. The drinks were all top notch. But a little more varity would be nice. The entertainment was good although not broadway but still fun. All non motorized sports on sight were free (kayaking, snorekieing, paddleboats, windsurfing, and sailing). And if you did not know how to do these things, they were glad to help. The 2 beaches were both very nice, with plenty of loungers and chairs. Also they had hamocks in the shade. All in all we had a great time. If you needed anything you had only to ask. And as a smaller hotel it was not long before you knew everyone by name and they you. We liked it so well that we are already planning on going back.

While out on the hip strip, when shopping,or even in the shops. Never pay full price for anything. All prices ARE negotiable. Except for food and drink but you can shop around for the better deals on those items. And don't be afraid to just say no. Also don't exchange your money for the Jamaician money. US dollors spend just as good or better. And they actully prefer it to their own. Thats any where in the country, from the beachs to the mountain.

First time in Jamaica
My husband and I had an awesome time. The hotel is right on the strip with trinket shopping stores and restaturants. No need to be scared when you venture out. The locals are just trying to make a living and want you to buy their items. However, I will say to be firm if you are not buying and everything is negoiable. Do not pay the first price. They want you to negotiate so, you get a good price and buy more. The hotel staff was awesome. My husband had to see the nurse while we were there and she was good. Everyone always spoke to you and was very friendly. Had an awesome time and would definitely return.
