Riu Montego Bay - All Inclusive

The RIU Resort and Hotel was excellent. I was celebrating my 30th birthday and it was a time I will never forget. Our rooms were great, overlooking the Blue Ocean. Our bars were stocked. The staff was Great. Everyone was friendly and accomadating. The food was the highlight!!! DELICIOUS!!! The shows were entertaining, and it was obvious the performers worked very hard. I cannot wait to return!!! Thank You soooo much, All those at RIU Montego Bay.

The hotel itself was nice. The food at the buffets though was pretty bad. Don't consider myself a picky eater at all so thinking the food is bad says a lot. Also the beach area was nice but the ocean portion to swim in is pretty much a back bay without a lot of waves or good swimming area.

Jamaica is a beautiful place to visit however if your hotel stay is not good, it will surely mess up your day. The first day was fine however the second day when my friend and i got back from the beach we needed to take a shower, room service cleaned our room and left only ONE large towel to dry off ( hello there are two of us). So we call down and request a towel..and what do you know ..we're waiting an hour and nothing comes, not to mention in that hour we called several times...so we end up walking all the way down to the desk to request one, since they were no longer ansering our calls. The next day they cleaned our room they left two face towels and no body towels..my friend and i just laughed , made me wonder if they were doing this on purpose ..at this point we just caught a cart in the middle of the hallway ..an jacked all their towels. The food there is really bland ..the only food that is somewhat flavorful and safe to eat is the jerk chicken and hot links they have on the beach by the pool..everything else looks like its been sitting out over night and isnt fresh...oh also be aware everyone will be asking you for a tip and i mean EVERYONE! so pack a lot of cash..there is much more i would like to add to this email, but im at work and dont have time..anywho..hope this helps

This was our second stay at the Montego Bay RIU, and it was just as nice as the first, staff was friendly, and helpful, rooms were clean, refridgeator was well stocked every day, plenty to eat. there are a lot of people there to help you take a tour if you desire. The trips we took were within 30 min.of the hotel. All in all a nice getaway

Hotel is very close to the airport; pro:10 min. traveltime con: planes come overhead about once an hour. The food was good and plentiful and the drinks were flowing. Pool was fantastic and not to overcrowded, loungers were always available. The beach had some close seawead that could be cleaned up to give more room for swimming but it was a great place to hang out . Most of the service people were nice and helpfull.Overall well worth the price.

15 min from airport. Roomy lobby, quick check in (they prepare package in advance). Luggage delivery to room is slow (end up doing myself). Pool is great. Beach is small (look at satellite images), water is bit shallow and muggy. Food was ok (especially for spice lowers). Bars were ok as well. Entertainment was ok but almost none for kids. Stuff looked like many trainees among trained. Check out was quick. Average for the money.

From the beautiful lobby and pool area to the white sand strip of beach, you will feel like your getting your moneys worth. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Not the biggest TV but who is there to watch. Only soap provided, no shampoo or lotions. My one negative was dinner which was fair. Breakfast was great and lunch was very good. Close to the airport and you do get the occasional plane over head, but it is a minor distraction.

Pros: Great location, friendly staff, close to the beach, good food. Close-ish to downtown Mo-bay. Cons: Taxi's are expensive from the hotel to anywhere, poolside can get loud/roudy - not a bad thing if that's what you're looking for.

We have stayed at many Riu resorts in the Caribbean and in Jamaica (both of the Negril ones) and this one is the least impressive. The food was terrible and the reservation restaurants were still basically buffet style and also not very good at all. The airport is convenient but that means that planes are flying over all day which is a tad disturbing of paradise, but like all places in Jamaica, the people on staff were absolutely fantastic. I would recommend the two Riu resorts in Negril over this one. The value was excellent as was the convenience to the airport and to Half Moon Resort's equestrian center (a bonus for us).
