Surprised at the quality and value
With relatively low rates I was surprised by the quality of the resort and the staff. On request was upgraded to a great room with a view. Staff was extremely friendly at every turn, and the buffet and bar selections (included in the price) were better than expected. The rooms are furnished well, and EXTREMELY quiet. I've now been in sixty countries although this was my first to Jamaica. I'll be back...

Boring & Disappointing
Nothing special, like being on a bad cruise ship with nothing to do other than waiting for the next (mediocre) meal. Other than going to the pool there was nothing to do, nothing to walk to, no transportation to town. Food was nothing special.

best cost performance ever!!
Although the quaity of staff service is pretty low, it is worth for staying this hotel. Reasonable price w/ good food & cocktails and nice location. Japanese restaurant was not good at all ( I can't call it " Japanese food" as it's totally different from the one I have in Japan.). However, Cajun restaurant was pretty nice. I didn't try Steak house. House keeping sometimes came at 9:00a.m., and 16:30 p.m. Mini bar refilled only every second day. They have beautiful beach and good for swimming (but not good for snorkeling and there's no coral reef.).

Amazing solo vacation
Traveled to Montego Bay in November 2011. Arrived late in the evening. Reception staff was very friendly making check in easy. Arrived in room; average no frills as I did not pay for an oceanview, (view of the children's playground and service road) but it was cleaned and the bar stocked. Bars everywhere and great service; food was tasty; great variety at the buffets. Was unable to get reservations at any of the restaurants until late at nite(9PM). The wait staff/entertainment group/bartenders very friendly. Thanks to Aaron, Andrew and Tracy, made the stay worthwhile!! Grounds are beautiful and well-maintained; beach was beautiful with lots of loungers and mix of sun and shade; lots of spots to relax around the grounds; can't say much about the pool as I spent most of my time on the beach. The internet cafe is $5.00 for 15/min. You will need all the time as the computers are really slow. The gym is well appointed. Also went to the Spa at the Grand.; very relaxing with helpful staff. Overall great resort. Would definitely go back

Great Hotel and Superb Staff
I stayed at the Iberostar Beach Resort during Labor Day weekend. Very welcoming and warm atmosphere. All of the staff were very attentive to my needs and have nothing but praise for all of them. One issue was that because I arrived early, I had to wait 2 hours to check in to my room. They would not do an early check in. At least they let me have lunch beforehand. The 'casino' onsite is not really a casino. It's 8 old slot machines. Not worth the money. Overall, great food, great beach, and perfect value for the money! (Cheap too!)

Great time!!!
Beautiful hotel, very clean, bartenders all are great!! I would like to see more Jamaicans working there instead of Mexicans. In a nut shell, would go back if I was going solo to Jamaica again!!

Beautiful place with great people!!!
As a single traveller I was a bit worried about staying at the resort. My worries were all in vain. I felt comfortable and at ease. My original goal was to just relax and hang at the pool or beach. That plan changed the second night. I met some great people and was never alone.

The Good The Bad and The Ugly
What I disliked first about Iberostar Rose Hall Beach. That has to be the mildewee smell that plagued me my entire stay. The room stunk and it was annoying to say the least. The lights kept going off and the airconditioning wasn't on or was very low. I mean all over the hotel. I was miserable. I like my surroundings to be cold. The food was just all right. It did not blow me away. The only exception was the steak I had at their steak house. That's the bad and the ugly. The good included the alcohol. They would fix whatever you wanted and as much as you wanted. The best part about the liquor is they had top shelf stuff. You could sit at the bar near the lobby or relax at the pool bar. The pool was very nice and friendly bartenders. The beach was very nice. Unfortunately, a four star hotel does not have stinky rooms and poor airconditioning.
