Nice friendly people

I felt the hotel experience was good for our family. My biggest complaint was with housekeeping. One day of our stay, election day in Jamaica, our room was not serviced at all. Another day the room was serviced but towels were not replaced, therefore leaving us without towels for the evening of New Year's Eve. I requested towels for 2 hours before they arrived. All other areas of the hotel were pleasant. The Jamaicans who greet you as they walk by make the hotel a friendly atmosphere. Our best service was with the bartender Romain who also provided the best friendliest care for our family.

we arrived the day after Christmas to a warm friendly staff. The room was over looking the sea and pool area it was the best view. The bar staff was great making my diabetic daughter her very own frozen sugarfree drinks (we brought crystal light) she thought that was the best thing. The food was good remembering that you will see thing that we in America do not eat but we all tried it and liked some. I will go back again

Disappointing Vacation

We visited the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton during October, 2011 for a relaxing ladies weekend. While the weather was extremely rainy (October is the rainiest month in Jamacia), the issues that we experienced went well beyond the daily storms. The lobby and reception at the hotel were pretty impressive. They offered us cold towels and a welcome cocktail that was much appreciated after a turbulent trip from NYC. Our villa (Villa 40) was as far from the main building as you can get. The room itself was nothing special, but it was a bit dirty (e.g, there were dead mosquitoes in the window pane and cobwebs under the chairs and bed). The main issue that we had in the room was that we had no running water. On our 4 day stay, we made at least 15 calls to maintenance saying that the water wasn’t working … each day (sometimes several times a day) they did eventually fix the issue, however it was quite the nuisance and not something that we wanted to deal with on our vacation. When we did have water, both the shower and the sink had very low pressure that made things difficult. Our friends who were staying in the same villa, but in a different room had no air conditioner. While our room was freezing cold (and couldn’t be turned down), their room was stiflingly hot. We’ve been to a few all inclusive and were not surprised that the food wasn’t great or that there weren’t that many options. Bubba’s (the steakhouse) seemed to be the restaurant everyone wanted to go to. None of the restaurants on the property accept reservations, so when we got there on our first night we were told that there were 17 groups ahead of us. We waited about 35 minutes and when we went to check where we were in line, we were told there were now 21 groups ahead of us. We asked how that we even possible, but were not given a straight answer. We promptly left and found a less crowded restaurant. Another issue with the restaurants is that there was no consistency in terms of what was open and when. This made planning for meals difficult if you were trying to avoid the buffets. The pool, spa and beaches were some of the highlights and better features of the hotel. Overall, while this trip hasn’t turned me off from Jamaica, I wouldn’t go back to the Grand Palladium and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I look forward to trying Negril or Ocho Rios on our next trip.

The place to stay in Jamaica

Outstanding food and drinks! Awsome pools! With 9 Resturaunts we always had a great selection of foods - from the local creole to Italian, Indian, or Mexican we always got to try something new. Very close to the Dolphin Cove - a must experience attraction. - Swim with the Dolphins. Wonderful beaches. Not good for handicapped, as wheelchairs would have a hard time making it to the rooms. Otherwise fantastic.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Dolphin Cove is worth the whole trip. Swim with the Dolphins. See, touch, and swim with the same species of Sting Ray that killed Steve Erwin (Barbs have been removed so it is safe). Try the Shark Experience if you are brave. Everyone loved it from teenagers to adults. Impress your kids and grandkids. Take them to Dolphin Cove.

special birthday getaway for the man i love..

Overall, the place was very nice. The food could have been better. Though they advertise the many different dining options, we were limited to only 4 and of that it was mostly the negril buffet. They said it was because there were not enough guest and towards the end of the week they would open all of them. That never happened. Staff was by far the most pleasant people you could ever come across. anything we needed they took care of very quickly. Drinks were great! however, when they say they import beers, it's really only ONE imported. Of course it wasnt the kind my boyfriend drinks. He had to drink their beer Red Stripe. Thank God he liked it! We chose not to do any of the activities the hotel offered but would recommend it to others. We went mostly to enjoy each other and relax, which is exactly what we accomplished!! kudos to grand palladium lady hamilton!

Couples vacation

We traveled to Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa, Monetgo Bay in August 2011. I did a lot of research and read a ton of reviews about this hotel. I have to say that I was pretty concerned about the drastic differences in opinions. It seemed like either people really liked it or hated it. In my opinion, I think the people that hated it were being way too picky. The resort is really nice and the people are friendly. It is a huge resort so be prepared to do A LOT of walking!!! Check-in/check-out were quick and easy. Our room was nice, except for the shower (as mentioned by many reviewers). They definitely have the wrong kind of shower head so the floor would get flooded. The food was really good. I am a very picky eater and found plenty to eat. Of course, the buffets get boring and repetitive after a while, but the other restaurants were really good especially the Italian and Steak places. No need for reservations and we were seated immediately which was very nice. Leave tips even though it is not required. They serve you just as if you were out to dinner in the states and we had great service at each restaurant. We absolutely loved the adult pool as this was our vacation away from the kids. The beaches were nice, but a little disappointing. They were very rocky and we did not have water shoes or it probably would not have been an issue. The real disappointing part was the entertainment. The nighly shows were pretty bad. We tried a couple nights and left early each time. The night club was also not the greatest. We love to dance and the one night that they played decent music we did get a chance to dance, but it was so loud that we could hardly hear eachother talk. We did like how they had a sports bar which offered snacks (nachos, pizza, popcorn, ice cream) until 7:00 in the morning, but it was pretty run down. We also love playing pool and the two pool tables were very run down with holes in the floor, missing balls and over run by kids. It would have been nice if they had an adults only sports bar and a separate one for the kids. Other than that, we did enjoy our time, but don't think we would ever return to this resort or Montego Bay.

Boring during off-season

Everything was pretty normal. Buffet food was okay. The a la carte restaurants had limited hours and we weren't able to make the times. The disco and bars were lame and really dead. When it rained, it was really boring. Spa appointments all booked up. There weren't even that many people walking around. And when it rained, it was really slippery all over the place (especially with flop flops on), even though they tried to constantly mop. Otherwise, the rooms and amenities were relatively clean and functioning most of the times. (Some minor things need fixing.) Overall, okay value for the price paid.

Nightlife tip: Not Applicable

We actually took 45 min taxi drive from the hotel to a local club, the Jungle, which was still really quiet for a Saturday night (best night is supposedly Thursday night), but there was more people than in the "club" in the hotel and the drinks were worth it.
