Villa Igea Venice
First off...I am a novice traveler. Venice was the last leg of a trip from Rome, Cinque Terra, Florence and Venice. The hotel was in a quaint little square in Campo San Zaccaria. The room and bath were small, but a lot of the hotels seemed to be that way during my Italy trip. The staff was courteous and the location was great. It was a short walk to the San Marco Square and to the water buses. The square in front of the hotel did get a little noisy with some partying pedestrians walkIng by in the middle of the night. We were on the third floor facing the square. The breakfast was average based on the three other hotels I stayed at in Italy... salami, cheese, croisant, fruit, yogurt... Overall I had a nice experience at Villa Igea.

Time-saving tip:
Long walk from hotel
If you are planning to do a lot of walking through the narrow streets of Venice and are planning to visit the other islands, I recommend getting a water bus pass for the time period you need. They were available at a little office at the train terminal.

The only good thing about this
The only good thing about this hotel is the location. The rooms were ok and comfortable. Our a/c didn't work on the first night and we swealtered. The next day we were told 'yes it works, you're not turning it on' (which we were). Later they fixed it with no apology nor any comment. Buffet breakfast had very old fruit and dried out cakes. Staff in breakfast room were good. Staff on reception were rude and made you feel like you were an inconvenience. The last straw was when they watched us struggle to get out the door with all our bags. The lady on reception and the bell boy both stood by and watched. Overall a very unpleasant experience. I also asked the lady on reception to make call for me to change a reservation. I first got told off for not making the reservation through her (obviously she gets commission) and then was told to ring myself. Then had to go back and tell her they didn't understand me. She reluctantly made the call. Definitely needs an attitude check.

Charming- good location, perfect price
This hotel was perfectly located on a quiet piazza opposite a gorgeous church, but just five minutes from San Marco. It is small, charming, and very European. A good breakfast is included. The concierge was terrific. The cost was amazing for our four night stay in Venice at the height of the season (More than two nights has a discount.) I would go back in a heart beat and recommend it to anyone looking for a small hotel without gyms or spas etc and with charm

Short walk from hotel
Sevberal restaurants recommended by the concierrges weree very near and very good - one was a very Venetian place where we ate with gondola drivers; another, Giardinette, more upscale but very reasonable prices for Venice. The hotel provides a free taxi to Murano, to one of the glass works. The island of Murano is a pleasure to explore - little steets, little bridges, amd a terrific restaurant, also very authentic, called Taduo.BEWARE - Venice is hot in July and very crowded.

Great little hotel
Great location, only a short walk to Piazzo San Marco and Valporetta stop.VERY friendly staff. [...] gave us lots of good info about restaurants, gondolas, shopping, etc. Our room was nice, but the shower could use some maintenance (some black mold in the grout).

Small but quaint
Hotel Igea is in a great location. Just a couple of blocks from San Marco. We were only there for two nights and spent very little time at the hotel. The room was small but comfortable and the breakfast was adequate.

Great Location and Staff
Very good location and access via vaporetto (water taxi). Since this was my first time to Venice I didn't realize how many bridges I might have had to climb (with bags!) to reach some of the other hotels. There are 3 water bus stops around the hotel, with most major routes coming here which makes it really easy to get around. The stop for Line 51/52 from the train station is the best because there are no bridges to climb to get to the hotel. The Hotel itself is not on the Grand Canal, just 1/2 a block away from it which makes it very convenient but also quiet at night, unlike some hotels on the main street. Very close to Piazza San Marco, meeting locations for the Venice tours, restaurants, shopping, etc. About 10 mins to the Rialto bridge on foot, but be careful about Venice maps - they take a little getting used to. The staff at the hotel was very nice and friendly, the rooms were small but normal by European standards, bathrooms were updated and the decor was charming. Would definitely stay again.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
All the expensive designer stores are around Piazza San Marco but the hotels there are expensive. This hotel is only 5 mins away and you can save the money for shopping.

Great Beautiful Hotel~
The hotel is only 2 blocks away from St. Mark's square, and one block from the water bus stop. Very conveniently located. The room is clean and nicely decorated. We had a small balcony facing the square. It was nice and quiet. The shower did not work though. The shower/tub door did not work at all and you got water all over the floor whenever you shower. But overall, it's a great hotel!
