hotel tritone Mestri( Venice)
The hotel was fine, but when I booked the trip I asked for Venice. Mestri is not Venice. The hotel itself was adequate--not great--close to train/bus but in an area in which we did not feel safe, especially in the evening. I am not sure why this hotel was recommended for us by Orbitz--but again--if you are going to Venice--stay in Venice not in this lousy location of mestri

Long Time Traveller, First Time Victim
Basic Business Hotel, and Less
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. They even let us drop off a bag when we left Venice for a few days in Rome. The internet connection was freely available. There was even a printer available in the lobby. HOWEVER, while we were out to dinner, someone got in to our room, went through our luggage, and took all our U.S. cash! Luckily we had all our passports, credit cards and Euros with us, so they didn't have an opportunity to take those. This hotel is very convenient for the bus to Marco Polo airport, but there is nothing else near by. Unless and until I can find out how someone may have gotten into our room (and known we had left), I cannot recommend that anyone stay here.

overnight stay for flight out of venice
We had stayed at the Tritone a week before for 2 nights. This time we stayed in a suite which was very well decorated, spacious and comfortable. The hotel offers an excellent breakfasr. The staff is very courteous and willing to assist in any form. The hotel provides free WiFi to keep in contact with home and a perdonal computer in the lobby if you didn't bring your own. Location is advantageous since you can cross the street to Mestre railroad station and go to Venice Santa Lucia station in 10 min or less for 1 euro. You can also go to any of the nearby towns (Padua, Verona) or Florence from there. If you carry a lot of luggage. it is an advantage not to stay in Venice island. The neighbothood is not very appealing but the Moro restaurant nearby is excellent. We also discovered the Adriatico Bar around the corner in the same building with excellent panini.

Great Location!!!
This is an excellent choice to visit Venice at an afordable price. Public Transportation, Bus / Train / Taxi, are readily available right by the Hotel. The breakfast was included in the Room per night charge and it resulted to be an excellent choice in comparison to the food prices in the general Venice area. The Hotel is within 10 minutes from the Airport, Venice and the Cruise Ships Port.

Convenient 1 night stopover location
We needed a hotel to stay that was reasonably close to Marco Polo airport as our international flight left early in the morning. This was a good choice, as it is located just accross the street from the V.E. Mestre train station, which we took from Venice Island. The hotel restaraunt wasn't open, but there was another one about a 1/2 block away. Not much else around, so I'm glad we came at the end of the day to check in, eat and set up transportation to airport. No hotel shuttle, but there is a pay shuttle about 1 block away, although we took a taxi. Good place to stay if you need to be close to airport. Cool room-very contemporary. Would choose again. Front desk helped with transportation, offered early morning breakfast box.

Good value for the price
We stayed for 9 days and it was a good experience, the staff friendly and helpful, the rooms acceptably clean. The only bad point was that at the breakfast, as hot meals, the only options were eggs and bacon. They were tasty but after four we got tired of them. The location was great for visiting both, Mestre and Venice.

Great choice
after reading other reviews, I chose the Hotel Tritone...a great pick!!!! The prices were very good and staying off of Venice BUT right across the street from the train station in Menstre was a good move as the train ride was 1€ each way and the trains ran frequently. Also, the front desk staff was very helpful. The comp breakfast was the BEST and the best of the best was the coffee!!!! Did not find any better coffee.

Great if you need airport or cruise port access
The hotel was nice, with some nice extras - slippers, robes, water and coffee at all times in the lobby, and a great buffet breakfast. A short train ride will get you into Venice or a bus across the street takes you to the cruise port. And you don't have to deal with dragging luggage up and down Venice's bridges. The hotel has a great shuttle service to and from the airport that is cheaper than the bus. The room was a little small by US standards, but about what one would expect. A nice place to stay, especially before or after a cruise.
