Area description
The Hotel Torino is seen as one of the hotels with the best position in Venice. Next to the beautiful court of Santa Maria del Giglio, it is located a short distance from San Marco Square, the Teatro la Fenice (La Fenice Theatre) and from the famous Harry's Bar. A brief and pleasant walk along via XXII Marzo - the street with the most important shops of high fashion such as Prada, Versace, Biagiotti, Bulgari - leads to Piazza San Marco. The view is surprising, the large space dominated by the height of the bell tower, the magnificence of the basilica and the presence of Palazzo Ducale make this place spectacular and fascinating.

Fabulous Location/Service for the Price!

Highly recommended. The manager of this hotel was fabulous - very helpful, kind and friendly. We will definitely go back. Also, this hotel is very close to a Vaporetto stop (Giglio) which is important, and within a few steps of St Mark's square, so the location is perfect, yet still quiet. Good value for the money. If you are a first time visitor to Venice, you can call the hotel to get tips on arrival transportation as it can be confusing until you know how - very simple for this hotel.

Lovely boutique hotel in an excellent location

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Torino. It's a stones throw from St Marks Square and a selection of vaparetto stops and was straight forward to get to thanks to the map provided on its website. Our room was quite small but perfectly formed with a nice big bed, more than enough storage space for our 3 nights and an immaculate bathroom. All the staff were friendly and courteous, and made us feel welcome straight away. The only slight draw back was the limited selection at the continental breakfast but what was available was fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend this hotel for its beautiful classic style and prime location.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

The only real downside to Venice as a whole is the cost of food and drinks from the bars and restaurants. If you want to save a few euros, check if the bar adds an additional charge for you to sit down. A lot of them have limited seating anyway so staying stood at the bar is no great heart ache and saves at least €1 per person per drink. Believe me, it all starts to add up!

Great Hotel, great visit, EXCEPT----

The hotel was lovely and in a great location. It seemed very secure having three locked doors one must enter before getting into our room. Even still, someone managed to take a fairly large sum on cash from inside my suitcase. I did not discover the loss until late at night before leaving early the next morning. The attendant was apologetic and said management would be notified. What a shame to have such a flaw to discredit this lovely hotel and city.

Romantic Location

The location was great, near Piazza San Marco. The room was old but it's expected from Venice as it's an older/charming place. Didn't like the carpet as it felt dirty. The bed was not as comfortable and the nights were warm....they did have AC but we didn't know how to work it. The breakfast was ok, but the breakfast room was too small to handle many guests. The price was great because of the location. The hotel needs some remodeling or upgrading, but then again, you are in Venice to enjoy the breath-taking scene.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel was located next to a restaurant and bar. There were many restaurants/bars within walking distance. Oh, and the shopping...well, it's not as great as Milan, but it's definitely a must if you enjoy Venetian Masks and Murano Glass.

Great Location in Venice

This hotel is a great price for the location. I looked at other reviews to get advice and it was helpful. The lower priced rooms are located just a short walk from the hotel. It's tricky to find the hotel entrance though. We took a water taxi (50euros for two people)from the airport to a random spot they dropped us off to and we happened to wander in the right direction. You can take the local ferry aliliguna which is cheaper, but lugging around your suitcases in the city is a huge trouble, especially if you have no clue where you are. The people there were very friendly and helped a lot. In the other part of the hotel where we stayed it is 4 floors with no elevator which was another downside, but they had a bell boy help up bring up our bags and take them down at the end of our stay. It is a work out though. Rooms are very small with no air conditioning. Ours was perfect though because there was a nice breeze coming in. I don't think it would be pleasant in the summer months. No internet is provided and no breakfast. The location is amazing though, it's right down the street from the plaza and you can still walk to rialto. It was just a pain to lug around our luggage through the city to get back to the airport.
