Ancient Venice convent now a quiet retreat, near St. Mark’s Square
The Santa Marina Hotel Venice is in two adjoining buildings that once served as a convent. Guests appreciate the hotel as a quiet retreat from the more crowded tourist areas, in a central neighborhood between the Rialto Bridge and the Church of Saints John and Paul, easy walking distance from most popular Venice landmarks. Red and white marble flooring, Murano glass and dark wood panels create a warm, classical atmosphere. In the summer, enjoy breakfast on the hotel's terrace with a view of Santa Marina Square.Highlights

- Area description
- In the heart of Venice, in a picturesque and peaceful countryside, sheltered from the confusion of tourist traffic, Hotel Santa Marina is less than a 10 minute stroll from piazza San Marco and the Ponte di Rialto. Among the hotels in Venice the Santa Marina is one of the most convenient for discovering Venice on foot and to sail to the islands of Murano and Burano, one famous for glass, the other for typical lace and sweets.
Very close to the hotel, Venice offers authentic pearls of Venetian art and history, less known by mass tourism and for this reason even more fascinating and attractive, such as the church, Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Miracoli, a Renaissance masterpiece, a small elegant chest of multi-colored marble. Less than 200 meters from the hotel are the Chiesa di Santa Maria Formosa and the delightful Teatro Malibran, in Corte del Milion, where Marco Polo once lived, just two minutes from the Hotel Santa Marina

This hotel is in a great location.
This hotel is in a great location. We stayed in the annex (there appear to be two of these), which was very reasonably priced. Ours was on a street adjacent to the square where the main hotel is located. Our room shared a communal living area with one other room with a sofa, dining table and big screen TV. This area and the room itself was beautifully decorated in typical Venetian style. There was a bit of a smell in the room, but this went away as soon as we entered and didn’t bother us. The hotel offers a nice continental breakfast in the main building and there is also free Wi-Fi access. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel.

Great spot, though it would have
Great spot, though it would have helped to have some directions on the location, especially as we had a disabled friend travelling with us. The staff were wonderful in accommodating this person and upgraded the room for better access which was so appreciated. Would gladly recommend this place

One of the nicest in Venice
Very nice breakfast and close to St Mark's Square and Rialto bridge and shopping and everything. Free internet in the common area and internet in the rooms for an additional fee. Has a dock just behind the hotel so you are not dragging your luggage all over Venice.

clean but small
Being in the annex of the hotel was fine & quiet. The room was so small that there was no place to put our suit cases, so they stayed on the floor and we stepped over them. The shower was smaller than on our last cruise, there was no soap dish and the shower curtain did not cover the opening so the floor got wet. The breakfast and patio were lovely. The hotel was very clean. The location was great for getting to San Marco and Rialto. The hotel had a posted price sheet for the water taxi to the airport and made the reservation for us. When we arrived at the airport the water taxi demanded more money than the set price and since they had our luggage we had to pay up.

Hotel Review
Staff is friendly. Hotel is fairly close, but not in the middle of, most places tourists would want to see. Sights and transportation are all 5 to 10 minutes walk.
