Stunning hotel

My wife and I were blown away by the beauty of the hotel, stunningly appointed, high quality everything with everything you could wish for, and more besides. The service was impecabble throughout, literally nothing I could criticise, perfect. Location is ideal, close to the water bus stop of ca rezonica and only a 5 minute walk to academia. From this location you can access everything Venice has to offer but still be away from the crowds of St Marks Square, and enjoy the relaxed chic vibe that exists around academia. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Take the water bus from the airport. It takes a while stopping at alot of places, although there are more direct water buses running during core hours. This will set you back 25 euro return. A water taxi will quadrople that.

Lovely stay - Stylish, friendly.

Lovely stay - Stylish, friendly. Elegant design room (small as is common in Europe) but nice. Fantastic location far enough away from San Marco to not be over touristy, but easy waking distance, plus right next to vaprretto stop. My self, husband and 7 year old stayed for 3 nights Xmas 2010. Enjoyed the luxury and romance of the roof top spa.

lovely hotel, good location

My family (2 adults and a four year old child) stayed in the Palazzo Stern for 2 nights. We booked a triple standard room. Our room was a bit smaller than expected on the ground floor, but enough for 3 of us. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The hotel is well located. Literally just a few steps from the Water bus stop (Ca'Rezzonico). It really helped getting in and out with a small kid and bags. The staffs at the front desk and restaurant were so helpful and kind. A weather forecast card left on pillow every evening was a lovely and informative. Breakfast was well prepared. Much better than simple continental breakfast. Also the hotel has great terrace outside next to the Canal which would be great for breakfast or drink, but unfortunately not available during our stay in cold weather of November. The downside I would mention is that there was no balcony overlooking the canal in my room. We had just a small window blocked by the other building. Another minor thing that irritated me a bit was that air conditioning is seasonal. So I needed to open window to cool down room temperature. Overall, staying in the Palazzo Stern was very enjoyable. Comfortable bed, attentive staff, clean bathroom, close to tourist attractions… Definitely, I would stay again, but I will ask for another room with better view next time.

palazzo stern

beautiful hotel in really good location;it lived up to the description and exceeded it.very well sited for walking all major tourist sites and with vaporetto stop right outside was easy to get around.nice area with pretty squares and backstreets to explore, arty, studenty area with a lively buzz without being too touristy.we were releived we hadnt booked hotel nearer to st. marks square after going there and seeing how busy and noisy it was!The hotel has lovely terrace overlooking grand canal which was great for breakfast and quiet retreat later on for tea or late night drink, can watch the boats in comfort.staff helpful with fairly good english. only 2 small gripes;jacuzzi on roof which i had assumed was part of facilities turned out to cost 70 euros per hour. didnt matter as it turned out i was too busy to use it! tea and coffee maker in room was not kettle as i had assumed but mini expresso machine. great if you like strong coffee but no good for a tea addict like me who has to have tea first thing in morning.would advise travel kettle. all in all we had a fantastic stay and loved the hotel and city; it is so different from other places, clean, safe, and the total lack of wheeled transport was very appealing. ferries are fun to negotiate and trips to islands well worth doing.just a warning eating and drinking is pricey especially bars/restaurants with good views.Menus dont seem to vary much from one place to another, but the seafood is good.handy place to eat is osteria ONIGA just couple 100 yards behind hotel. fresh food and menu changed daily in dear little square with nice staff.

buy a multi use ticket for vaporettos;much cheaper than individual fares and you can use it as many times as like within a specified time frame eg24 hours, 3 days,7 days. valid for trips to murano and burrano too.

Great stay

Great hotel. Gorgeous details in the room and in the public areas. Really attentive staff. Breakfast was among the best variety we had while in Italy. And the location was great. Right on the Grand Canal--far enough from the hustle and bustle of the main square, but still close enough to walk (or better yet wander) over. Also helped that the water bus stop is right outside the hotel which makes it easy to get to from the bus or train stations. Would definitely stay again.
