A smart way to enjoy your stay right in Venice's heart. 0409 LB The exterior of the building isn't too dissimilar from most of the other architecture in Venice. The hotel is adjacent to the hotel Bonvecchiati and situated within easy walking distance of San Marco Square and The Venice Theatre.

Great, eventually!

We booked the Palace Bonvecchiati for four nights. We really liked the idea that the hotel was an old palace in a great convenient location, but with newly renovated modern rooms. We booked well in advance, and prepaid for a standard room. When we arrived, we were told by a very apologetic manager that "A difficult family with a sick child was still in our room" and that instead of staying at the Palace Bonvecchiati, he had moved us to a sister hotel for the first night of our stay, The Hotel Bonvecchiati, which was next door. Well the Hotel Bonvecchiati looked like it had not been renovated in 40 years, and had tiny rooms that smelled like smoke. Our room was in an alleyway, and the "window" faced a brick wall 2 feet away. Needless to say, my wife was very upset. We were told by the manager that it would only be for one night, and that he would make it up to us by booking us into a Junior Suite for the remaining 3 nights, at the Palace Bonvecchiati. After the first night, we did move back to the correct hotel, and he kept his promise and gave us the very best room in the hotel. We had a giant, beautiful room with a splendid large bathroom, and a view of the canal. He also sent up a bottle of bubbly, and an apology note. Overall, we had a great stay, and the hotel we actually booked, The Palace Bonvecchiati, was fantastic. Just cross your fingers that you don't get moved to the old property.

Engagement Vacation

I have been to Venice many times but this was a first for my girlfriend and now fiance and I really wanted her to have a great experience. The Palace Bonvecchiati was the best hotel that I have stayed at in Venice to date. If you travel to Europe, don't expect the same kind of hotel that you would in the US. That being said, for a european (and venetian hotel) the room was very clean, modern (sorry if you want the traditional venice flavor), and relatively large. Breakfast was excellent and was a mix of typical meats, cheeses, breads, but also eggs and bacon and of course cappuccinos! Although the actual breakfast spot was in their sister hotel, the Hotel Bonvecchiati, there was no trouble or issues with walking (indoors) to the adjacent building. The hotel staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. There was a problem with our water taxi from the airport and the hotel admitted they made a mistake, corrected it (at their cost), and even sent up a complementary bottle of champagne for the error. We used the upstairs jaccuzzi and steam bath which was amazing after long day of touring. Of note, the gym/spa was only open 3pm to 10ish and was first come first serve for time slots. I liked it as made the jacuzzi time private for me and my fiance. We went in March after Carnival so there were not large crowds. They do have (good reliable) internet access and wifi. I ended up paying 12 euro for a 20 hour plan. Location was amazing as right between Rialto bridge and St. Mark's square and was very quite, not able to hear crowds. The city of venice also started a new tax on all tourists of 2 Euros per day per person up to 5 days that is payable on checkout in CASH. (all hotels now do this) Overall I loved this hotel and appreciated their hospitality. I will look to stay at the Palace Bonvecchiati any/everytime I return to Venice.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Best place to eat dinner that doesn't cost an arm and leg, a place called "alla Madonna". Its near the rialto bridge back down a small ally.
