Lux

I just had to write this to warn the others: "Lux" folks gave me a room in the "2nd separate entrance" part of the hotel. No receptionist, staircase to crawl through, entrance door to a REALLY stinky side street open all the time (anybody can enter and no receptionist so it stinks in the staircase), smallest room I've ever seen, even smaller bathroom, all appliances in the bathroom worn down to a point of ridiculous, really noisy outside until 3am. Oh, and did I mention mosquitos in the room? Plentiful black spots all over the walls and ceiling suggest I wasn't the first lucky guest to spend a night chasing the bloodsuckers. But I wouldn't sleep anyway (remember - it was really noisy outside). Their pixs largely misrepresent the interior. There is nothing nice or high-end about the interior.

The Lux Hotel was a comfortable, basic hotel which was very close to the San Zacharia vaporetto stop and San Marco Square. There is no elevator so be prepared to puff your way up the narrow stairs before you can cool off in your air conditioned room. Air conditioning worked well but be sure to shut the windows after the maid visits or it will not turn on. The bathroom was a good size and clean. The bed was comfortable but the extra cot for my son was not. He could feel the bar dig into his back all night. The hotel offers a basic breakfast (croissants, coffee, yogurt, etc. but no fruit, meats, or cheeses). The hotel offered a free one way trip to Murano by water taxi. I would stay again if in Venice but the cost was double what I paid for a similar room in Florence.

Up a quiet side walk-way with shops with no traffic. Walk one block to main square.Rooms and bathroom clean.Did not allow us to check in early and you have to carry your own luggage up a minimum of 2 floors[no bellboy or elevators].

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and very clean. The location is wonderful, right next to St. Mark's square. Perfect location.

The hotel had a sense of faded elegance that has shifted to the more casual style of travel today. Room was large (good thing as there were 4 of us), with 1 single, 1 single sofa bed, and a queen. We overlooked a busy walkway (as they all are in the area), but the shutters/windows kept things quiet. Breakfast was as described (coffee, croissant), but there were other items available self serve such as juices, rolls, jams, cereal, and yogurt. Staff was friendly and accommodating for storing luggage post check out.

Fairly basic - small room but clean and adequate for a short stay. Some problems at breakfast with too many residents for such a small breakfast room! Excellent location.

An excellent hotel in an absoultely fantastic location. Literally steps away from St Marks square and the vaporatto stop. Very clean and quiet. Large bathroom supplied with shampoo, shower gel etc. Breakfast was ample, cereal, croissants, breadbuns, jams, yogurts and fruit juices. You also have a choice of coffees, herbal teas, hot chocolate etc.

Tucked away in winding streets of venice, but very close to the pier.

Room excellent, brilliant location one minute away from San Marco and from the ferries. Staff very friendly. B'fast could be improved though and extending wi fi to rooms not just reception area would be a major asset, even if agaianst a charge

Everything was wonderful except for the breakfast, where the choice was poor.
