Overview

The La Forcola Hotel takes its name from one of the most characteristic elements of the Venetian gondola, called precisely the forcola: the special kind of oarlock that is essential for the Venetian style of rowing. The Hotel is housed in an ancient Palace in the heart of the historic center, immersed in the characteristic and peaceful Venetian atmosphere.

The building has been recently restructured to offer our guests a pleasant environment, provided with exclusive comforts such as, for example, the elevator, a really unique service compared to the other hotels in Venice.
Located on three floors, the hotel is furnished in classic style, sober and elegant, strongly featuring the use of wood, a material that gives the atmosphere a special warmth..

Our first trip to Venice

Would recommend Fri, Sep 11, 2015
This was our first time in Venice just me and my wife. The hotel was great. Very clean, the rooms were cleaned every day. Beds changed and clean towels. They provided soap, shampoo, shower gel even toothpaste and toothbrush. In our room there was a mini bar which we used to keep our water cold. We never used the mini bar so don't know what it cost. The breakfast was fine with hot croissants plain or jam. You could have cereal, ham, cheese, bread rolls, crackers or yogurt. There was a machine for tea or coffee which did a reasonable job of making a cappuccino. From the Alilaguna water bus stop at Guglie the hotel was less than a ten minutes walk and very easy to find. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It's in a perfect location. Turn left as you come out the hotel door and this takes you to Rialto Bridge, Doge's Palace and St Marks square. Turn right and this takes you to Roma coach station and Santa Luia train station.

Great location with older decor furnishings but modern bathroom fixtures. We recommend this hotel to those travelers who need WiFi but can do without printing services. Also to those who do not need an early check-out as breakfast is late and business hours are not 24 X 7.

Perfect location

Would recommend Fri, Aug 2, 2013
The hotel was located 5 minutes from a boat taxi dock, 10 minutes from the train station, and was located on a lovely canal. There were restaurants, cafes, and stores all around the hotel. It was an easy walk to St. Marcos Square. The rooms were kind of small, but had lovely AC. The desk clerks were all very warm, friendly, and helpful. I hope I have the opportunity to return to this hotel and Venice soon.

Good..but

Would not recommend Sun, Jan 1, 2012
We arrived very late for a one night stay. We wanted a cup of hot water and nearly an hour later we received a phone call to say it was ready; they had to turn a machine on as they did not have a kettle to boil water. The room was cold and we could not get it warm. The shower had no curtain (very European) so the whole bathroom was awash with water after a shower. Breakfast was excellent. If you have to leave your bags during the day be aware that they are left in the breakfast room without supervision. They charge for Internet.

You can do better

Would not recommend Mon, Jul 30, 2007
We arrived at the hotel at 9am tired and sweaty after an overnight train ride from Paris and were told in no uncertain terms that check-in was 2pm, no exceptions. That's fine, but some hotels might have made the extra effort to see if there would be a room available before then. The bathroom on the ground floor was out of order so we could not even freshen up. The room itself was small (not a surprise as it is Europe) and unimpressive. The furniture was chipped and scuffed, the bed was uncomfortable and the ceiling tiles in the bathroom where water-stained. The shower had more mildew than I would like. The TV reception barely came through with a lot of fuzz for most stations. Breakfast begins at 8am, and do not show up at 7:50 for a coffee because you will be yelled at in Italian. On the bright side, the AC worked great, the location is wonderful once you find it. We still had a great trip, but this hotel did not live up to its 3 stars.
