Was a good place to crash
Hotel Centrale was pretty good. The lift was large and could fit my mom and I and our stuff. They promptly switched us to another room when the lights didn't work in the bathroom but it was an upgrade. Showers are super small but manageable. The breakfast says 'continental' but you do indeed have to pay for it. The Internet prices were outrageous. 5€ for an hour. But other than that it was a pleasant stay. There is a bus station across the street and it takes you right to Venice. Train station is about a twenty minute walk.

not very good
staff wasnt friendly, actually pretty rude, room was not very clean, and we had to pay extra for a buffet breakfast which wasnt good, and it was expensive

only few of the reception staff was helpful and friendly. the breakfast in italy i suppose is cut down to pastries and beverage, which i don't know how it constitutes as a proper breakfast. internet access was horrid... i had to sit with my computer right up against the door to barely get a signal level of 2 out of 5 or stand the entire time holding my computer. even going downstairs didn't do any good. rooms didn't impress me much, if they were clean... ummm, maybe the building is just old; i don't know. the garage was nowhere nearby... but it was a decent price and the garage was manned 24 hrs. this hotel was a 3 star hotel... but in comparison to other 3 stars i've been to, i would have thought it was a 2 star.

Worth the price, ideal for travelers
The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the Venezia Mestre Railway Station (the first station in Venice). So that's ideal if you are traveling through trains. It is slightly lower priced, coz its in Mestre, about 7 km away from the Venice Grand Canal. You will have to take a bus to get there in about 15 minutes. Its far more expensive to get a hotel overlooking the waterways. So this place was value for money. Clean spacious rooms, friendly staff, decent continental breakfast - ideal for the backpackers of budget travelers. Will recommend to these categories.

The hotel is well-situated. Trouble
The hotel is well-situated. Trouble with its location is that there is next to no parking. They have a deal with one of the public car parks but it is like 500 m away. Close to the mall, there is free parking from 8pm till 8am ... if you can find a spot. Reception was a bit brisk but improved on second contact. The bar/restaurant next door is cheap and serves very nice food.
