Quiet location with great staff

Would recommend Mon, Feb 8, 2016
While the hotel is a long walk into the centre of Venice, it is only a few stops on the water bus and is a peaceful haven from the tourists crowds around St Marks square. Clean modern rooms, helpful staff, great breakfasts. Would highly recommend

Nice Change

Would recommend Tue, Feb 2, 2016
This was my 20th trip to Venice and so we decided to go a bit off tourist. What a great quiet location- BUT vaporetto stop just a minute away gave easy access to all the hotspots. Most nights we walked back to hotel in 20-30 minutes depending on wine consumption!!! Staff superb. We had a small problem with toilet flush button sticking but was fixed soon after we reported it despite it being a weekend.

Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfasts. Quiet location but still within easy reach of St Marco. Only issue was aircon didn't seem to work very effectively but room cooled when we opened the window.

Great hotel to stay in, not central but less than a minutes walk from the st elena bus stop which affords you a great trip down the grand canal to reach it, staff we're very friendly and there was an excellent choice of food for breakfast. Hotel was very clean and tidy, would definitely recommend.

Great value in Venice

Would recommend Mon, Jan 5, 2015
The hotels near St. Marks Square, or on the Grand Canal are all small rooms and high prices. The St. 'Elana has spacious rooms (by European standards average for American standards) and is much more reasonably priced (again, versus local comparables). It's a 30 min walk from St. Marks, or a 10 min Vaporetto (water bus) ride. 3 minute walk to the local soccer stadium (Italian 2nd division). Unless you need to be in the middle of the action after midnight, and will sacrifice space and $$ to be there, this is a good choice.

A little overpriced, but worht it for a one night stay.

Would recommend Mon, Nov 17, 2014
I was only in Venice for one night (but two full days), and therefore wanted a chain hotel so I didn't have any problems with bag storage and the like. This hotel was perfect in that regard. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the room spacious, comfortable, and clean. The only drawback is the location. Located in the "tail" of the island, it's quite the hike by foot from the main part of Venice to the hotel. Water Taxis are quick, but expensive ($EUR 40), and the water bus is about an hour ride. However, once there you're smack dab in the middle of a lush, tranquil residential neighborhood and you've seen the sites of Venice by water in getting there. For it's location, I feel it's slightly overpriced considering the cost it takes to reach it, but other than that I was very pleased with my stay and would definitely stay here again.

Entertainment hint

Hotel offers a free shuttle to Moreno, the nearby island known for its glass blowing. The shuttle includes a free tour, and is an amazing deal if you have the time.

Very comfortable place in very expensive town

Would recommend Mon, Sep 29, 2014
Generally, hotel rooms in Venice are small, expensive, in old buildings and not "good value" by US standards. But the Sant Elena (while still not cheap) is a good value when compared to its local competitors. Fairly recently renovated, the rooms are very comfortable with modern facilities. The staff is friendly and efficient. It's NOT on the Grand Canal or St. Marks square, but it's only a couple of stops away on the vaparetto... a 20-30 minute stroll if you want to hoof it. And room prices are downright "thrifty" compared to all the other 4 star hotels on the island.

Time saver

Buy the multi-day pass on the vaparetto from Venice-unica if you're in town for 3 or more days (2 or more if you're under 29). It's THE way to get around in Venice.

enjoyable golden wedding annerversary vacation

Would recommend Mon, Sep 29, 2014
We enjoyed our stay as this hotel is clean & quiet, located in a predominantly residential area & very close to the St Elena vaporetta stop (No steps!). There is a grass & tree area at the waterside nearby, ideal for shade & relaxing after the crowds of venice. Buy a vaporetta pass which enables you to hop on & off. There are 6 vaporetta lines that stop at St Elena so you don't have to wait long. It takes about 10 mins by vaporetta to the St Marks area. There are 3 cafe's/trattorias nearby but you will need to walk or go by vaporetta to get a larger choice. The buffet style breakfast is well stocked but a message to the catering manager: The 2 slice toasting machine is very slow & causes a hold up or people aborting having toast at breakfast, please buy a new faster & larger capacity machine.

Money saver

Buy a vaporetta pass to give you unlimited travel & jump on & off facility.
