Room overlooking the canal and a gondolier.
Typically Venice. Room window opened up to a canal below with a gondolier making his way through the canals of Venice with a young couple. How Venetian was that? The ambience was superb! The hotel staff was very professional. The hotel was located very close to the Grand Canal and St Mark's Square.

Excellent location
This hotel was very close to San Marco Square and the Accademia, so it made an ideal base to explore the city. It served a delicious, buffet breakfast with a wide choice of options.

Not Disapointed
I was very satisfied with this hotel. The hotel was located in the center of everything we wanted to see. From the hotel it was a short walk to St Mark's Square. A water bus was close by to take us every where else. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful. The best part of the morning was the hotel breakfast.

Good Location and value, spotty service
My wife and I stayed at the Ala in April 2004, liked the location and did not hesitate to stay there again with a friend in September 2009. Absorbed by the beauty and charm of Venice, we weren't at the hotel much of the time but found it to be a good choice. Staff members were helpful and polite expect for one consistently rude woman on the breakfast room staff. We booked a "superior room" in 2004 and mistakenly booked a "standard" room this trip. It is clearly worth the additional expense to get a "superior" room.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
The location was a 13 min. walk to St.Marks square. No matter where to walked it was very romantic with the shops, restaurants, canals lining the streets and walks. We got lost twice and enjoyed every minute of it.

Great location! Great Service!
Our stay at the Hotel Ala in Venice was a great ending to our cruise vacation to the Med. The location was just right, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was great, breakfast was more than we expected. To cap it off they even made arrangements for a water taxi to the airport (at 4AM) right from the door of the hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

Three great nights in Venice
Great location, direct access from the hotel lobby for a water taxi pick-up to the airport. If we came back to the hotel in the afternoon for a quick shower, the room would be made up again with clean towels. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast buffet.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
Not a long walk, but if you go east and north of St Marks you get into a quieter area with wider side canals and nice restaurants used be the locals as well. Restaurants have reasonable prices if you stay a bit off the Grand Canal and St Marks (block or two will do it).
