- The Hotel Alexander is located in the most modern part of Mestre, near the citys new business center. In front of the large important private DEC dock that serves speedboats and yachts, the Hotel Alexander can be seen from the Canal Salso, the waterway that connects Mestre and Venice, and it is only 5 minutes by car or bus from Piazza Ferretto, the city salon that offers pleasant strolls under the portico, among shops, boutiques, bars and gelato shops.

The 'Alexander' is clean and provided
The 'Alexander' is clean and provided all needed services for us. It is in a residential area where one would not normally expect to find a hotel. Fortunately, it is only a 5-min walk to a bus station where you pick up a bus to bring you into Venice within 10 min. The staff friendliness was very uneven, ranging form very helpful and kind to grumpy. There is sufficient English spoken to meet needs of travellers who don't speak Italian. The hotel is rated as a 4-star but we failed to see the justification for this rating; 3 star would be more appropriate. The only Internet access was via a single computer in the lobby at an exorbitant rate. The Internet access system was provided by a 3rd party and the hotel felt no obligation to consider this service as part of a needed service.

Definitely NOT a Four-star Hotel
We stayed at this hotel the night before we left Venice because it was close to the airport. It is definitely NOT a four-star hotel. It is sadly out of date, smelly/dirty (hair in the bathtub), and in a terrible location. The worst hotel we stayed in on our three week trip. Terrible value for the money.

Der Service war super, alle Mitarbeiter
Der Service war super, alle Mitarbeiter sehr aufmerksam. Das Zimmer war sauber, für die Badausstattung würde ich nur 2 Sterne geben (Eine Dusche in der man auch nass wird wäre super gewesen). Gute Busverbindung nach Venedig.
