Turkish delight in Venice hotel that was once a Silk Road stop
Turkish traders working the ancient Silk Route once made their home in Venice in the palace that is now the luxurious Ai Mori D'Oriente Hotel Venice. (The name translates to "Moors of the East.") Architectural details and décor still recall that time when the fine goods of the Eastern world made their way to the West through Venice. Located near the Jewish Ghetto, today the Ai Mori D'Oriente Hotel Venice is in one of Venice's quieter neighborhoods but is still within walking distance of most of Venice's more popular attractions.

Highlights
  • Turkish décor creates a dramatic, romantic atmosphere
  • Located near the Jewish Ghetto and walking distance from popular Venice attractions
  • On-site hotel bar

Location
The Ai Mori D'Oriente Hotel Venice is located near the north end of Venice near the Jewish Ghetto, in Cannaregio, one of Venice's quieter neighborhoods, away from the busier tourist areas though within walking distance of most popular Venice attractions. Nearby are the Jewish Ghetto's synagogues, kosher restaurants and Judaica shops. Also nearby are the home of Renaissance painter Tintoretto and the Venice Casino's Ca' Vendramin Calergi venue.
Rooms
The rooms of the Ai Mori D'Oriente Hotel Venice are decorated with dramatic, romantic Turkish touches. Rooms are all air conditioned and have mini-bar, satellite TV, safe and Internet access.

Features
Guests start their day at the Ai Mori D'Oriente Hotel Venice with breakfast in the hotel's breakfast room. After a day touring Venice, relax at the hotel bar or in the reading room. Hotel staff is happy to arrange gondola rides, tours and theater and concert tickets.

Nice Hotel

The hotel is located in a very quiet area just 2 canals away from some of the action. The room was nice and spacious and the staff friendly. The only downside was you only get 30 minutes of free internet access and then must pay for more time.

Friendly service

Very helpful staff. Good facility. Good location. Our only problem with the hotel was the absence of an elevator. We had cruise luggage with us, and had to haul some very HEAVY suitcases down the stairs when we left. Fortunately the bell boy carried it all up for us.

Peaceful location

Our room was on a quiet courtyard away from the street. It was on the street level and there was evidence of past flood damage on the wood work. I would ask for a room on an upper floor - but we were out site seeing and shopping so much that we did not spend much time in the room. The room was smaller than expected but it was really well decorated and fairly comfortable. I am a light sleeper and found this to be one of the quieter rooms that I have stayed in. The location is a bit distant from the main tourist spots - Saint Marks. But it is an easy walk from the train and bus stations and we found good restaurants near by. Overall I would say the location was a plus.

This Hotel Never Disappoints

The Ai Mori D'Oriente is a charming boutique hotel located on a quiet canal in a residential neighborhood in Venice. If you want to stay in a more authentic area away from the tourist crowds of San Marco and Rialto areas, but want to be able to get to the center of it all easily, this is the place for you. There are two vaporetto stops nearby that put Venice at your feet. The staff is very friendly and attentive, speak perfect English, and are extremely accommodating. The rooms are charming and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is also excellent. This is my third booking at this hotel, and every time I've stayed there it has been a very positive experience.

We visited the island of Burano for the first time, and it was a pleasant afternoon excursion. You can reach it easily from the nearby Orto vaporetto stop.

Stinky in Venice

the hotel is visually stunning, with gorgeous decor, high ceilings and great breakfast. Unfortunately, our beautiful room was practically uninhabitable -- the room itself smelled of stale smoke, and the marble bathroom smelled like an open sewer. Brushing one's teeth was torture!

Great location in Cannaregio area

Great location in Cannaregio area close to the Ghetto, but still walking distance from St Marks. Away from crowds of St Marks so less noisy. Fabulous hotel with generous size room and bathroom which was spotless. Front of hotel on waterway (not Grand Canal). Only few rooms with waterfront view, most rooms in rear of building. Plush lobby and quaint dining area with rear courtyard where they serve continental breakfast. Very friendly, helpful staff who were only too happy to share local knowledge. Would definitely stay here again when next in Venice.

Beautiful hotel in a tranquil area

Beautifully decorated hotel in a unusually peaceful part of Venice, a welcome break from the crowds. This also means it is a bit challenging to get to with a lot of luggage, but we thought it was worth the effort. Without luggage, it was a pleasant walk to the main attractions and vaparetto stop. Our room was nicely decorated and spacious compared to our other rooms in Italy, even room for a sofa. The bathroom was also more spacious than others we've had in Italy, was very clean and had nice extras such as the heated towel rack. The hotel itself was sumptuously decorated, and we enjoyed the bar and the beautiful breakfast room. The front desk staff was quite gracious. This was our favorite hotel during our stay in Italy, and we will definitely return there should our travels take us back to Venice!
