I ordered our mid-August room way back in mid-June. When we arrived, we were told that the hotel was filled and we were being sent to another of their properties (the strangely named "Hotel Meeting") several blocks further back from the seaside.
This was already unacceptable, because I chose this hotel specifically for the location.
We argued it with the manager, an unpleasant man who kept insisting that both were 3-star and of comparable quality, which wasn't the point. He finally agreed to refund us 70 Euros, but only after much unpleasant wrangling, which culminated in his checking the passports of my wife and sister-in-law (who are Turkish) and proceeded to sneer and say that Turks are not trustworthy. He repeated the statement later in a different form: "I am not Turk. I'm Italian." Absolutely unacceptable, of course. If not that he already had my money in advance through CheaptTickets, we would have left on the spot.
Some of his staff tried to be nice to us, perhaps in embarrassment over his over racism. But as we left the hotel, the manager was conveniently absent, of course, and to get the 70 Euros I had to sing a statement saying that they were refunding me even though the two hotels were of the same quality (the point was always location, not quality).
In any case, please don't reward the racist manager by booking here.
