Wow what a view

Would recommend Tue, Jul 22, 2014
Loved Sorrento, loved the hotel, The view from the terrace is one of the best anywhere. Food and service in the dining room is mediocre, MUCH better in the bar. But the view is worth it. Guisseppe G is fantastic answered MANY emails and made the trip work out great, many special arrangements.

Attractions

Had GREAT private tours of Herculanum/Pompei and the Amalfi coast set up by Guisseppe. Boat trip to Capri was also very nice.

Wishwe could have stayed longer!

We spent 4 nights at the Hilton, visiting Sorrento for a wedding. The hotel upgraded us on our arrival to a garden view room and the cot that we had been worried about was perfect place and made in our room. The staff were friendly and could not do enough to help. The pools were fantastic and the breakfast gorgeous. The hotel was located within walking distance from the centre of Sorrento and this was great. We have one suggestion and that is a light on the balcony as this was our only place to go when the baby was asleep in the room and we couldn't see each other!! Thank you.

The Hotel is central for all Travel requirements,Bus and station only 20 mins away.Take the open top bus trip around the CAPE with stunning views of Capri and Amalfi coast.Train to Castellammare station and cable car (on Platform too) to Mount FAITO (cool at 1500m) with stunning views of Vesuvio and Pompeii.Avoid visiting Possitano on a Saturday as getting the bus back has a tedious wait('scrum for seats'in August).Do go tho to Rivello via Amalfi and start as early as possible, see Rivello first then catch the bustling town of Amalfi or just sit on the beach!Capri Via Jet ferry 21 euro return inc Kids over 12,a Must but take buses to Blue Grotto 1.40 Euro each leg via Ana Capri... (walk through quaint streets there,Chair lift to Mountain views)....120 euro By Taxi!!! In Sorrento Visit the Foreigner's Club for an Evening meal and Fantastic Vistas.Expect to pay 30 euro per head virtually every where for two courses and some Vino.Great Holiday, Great Weather, Great Hotel....Just Go!!

Nightlife hint

Walk down to Sorrento use via Sant'Antonio ,For a more pleasant, shaded and less tiring walk back (Day), use via Rivolo sant'antonio at the Via Capo end of Corso Italia past the Conca Park Hotel.

Great getaway

Would recommend Sun, Aug 15, 2010
The hotel staff was very friendly and accomadating. We upgraded to a room that was larger and had a better view. The center of town was about a 10-15 minute walk downhill but of course you can always take a taxi.

Beautiful views / close to city center

Would recommend Mon, Jul 19, 2010
I have been to Sorrento twice before and this hotel was the nicest by far. I like Hilton properties in general, but sometimes chains aren't the same outside US. I read other reviews before I booked the trip. Only concern seemed to be about the uphill walk back to the hotel from town. Writer had suggested taking a cab. Took a cab from train, that was a rip-off. He snaked us around several streets to increase the fare to 18 euro when reality was probably 5 euro ride. I asked at check in about how long a walk it was into town. He said "you are in town". We walked to shops/restaurants in 5 minutes and to the train in 10 minutes, which we took to Pompeii the following day. 30 minute train ride. The walk was enjoyable and the hill would be a problem if you were 70 years old, but for anyone else, it was a good walk. One evening, on the way back, we stopped at the park to see locals playing volleyball. My nephew and I noticed the pool side waiter from the hotel pool that afternoon. Really had the feeling of being in a neighborhood. Easy access to local shops and good local restaurants. Loved the mussels! I wish we had planned more days in Sorrento. Kids (18 yr olds) loved it. Hotel lobby was very nice but the views from the pool and restaurant area were fit for postcards. I took photos from breakfast terrace and emailed my family back home in US. Tough life! I told the kids this was not how I first experienced Europe when I was younger. Morning buffet included omlette station as well as crepe/waffle station. My newphew and I had chocolate crepes for breakfast. Best breakfast buffet I have ever had. Rooms are typical European style. Nothing to write home about. Bathrooms efficient and not too small, as some European bathrooms can be. Only problem we had was safe in the room missing the key, so couldn't use it. Apparently the previous customer had taken the key with them. Hotel offered to keep our items in hotel safe, but we left in our room and didn't have any problems. I would highly recommend this hotel for the quality, views and great location.

Shopping hint

Shopping, restaurants and train are all within short walking distance. Great location! Beautiful views from hotel.

Beautiful & Spacious Rooms

Would recommend Mon, Jul 19, 2010
Hotel was beautiful and staff very accomodating to American visitors. Rooms were spacious. Very nice breakfast & we had dinner at the restaurant on the veranda overlooking Sorrento-very good food. The location was a good 10 minute taxi ride or 20 minutes by bus (unreliable). Biggest complaint is that both pools (indoor & outdoor) close at 6PM so after a long day of sight-seeing in the sun- we never got to use either of them-very disappointing to the kids.

Attractions

Definitely take a cab to Marina Piccola at 9:30AM and take a hyrofoil boat to Capri for a day and take another day to go to Positano/Amalfi. (MetroMare is the name of the water ferry) Very reasonable and both Capri and Positano are a Must-see!!

Good Value

Would recommend Thu, Jul 15, 2010
I had the most amazing view of the Bay of Naples and the best breakfast I had in Italy. The hotel was a little inconvenient from town but for $160 per night, I considered it a great deal. My only complaints are minor: internet access was really expensive and the safe was in the minibar which concerned me a bit.

gorgeous hotel at the top of a cliff

Would recommend Thu, Jun 17, 2010
this hotel is located at the top of a cliff, so you have a fairly large hill to walk up and down to get to the town of Sorrento. However this also means you overlook everything which is gorgeous. The hotel is very impressive in size and decor, the indoor and outdoor pool are amazing. the downside is the room was noisy as in you could hear the cleaners in the morning and the opening and closing of doors.
