Cozy Spot Outside of Siena
We definitely enjoyed our time at Hotel Garden which is located a bit outside of the city center. The room was clean and decent sized with a fairly large bathroom. The staff was great, especially the girls working at the front desk and Alta at the bar - he was worth the visit alone! Breakfast was ok in the morning but I was disappointed by the lack of fresh fruit. Overall a great stay if you don't mind being a bit away from the center of the city or have a car available.

Aristocrat's Mansion
Hotel Garden is a beautiful building. The original building is a converted mansion. We stayed in the newer addition, that is comfortable, but not as charming as the older building with its higher cove ceilings that are all hand- painted. It is a bit of a distance outside of the Siena City Walls, but still walking distance if you are in reasonably good shape. There is a pool, but it closes unreasonably early (7:00 p.m.) considering the 100 degree temperatures. I have to say that my favorite part of this hotel was the restaurant, "La Limonaia". Sitting outdoors, amongst the stars, my partner and I had an unending meal as we proceeded from course to course, starting with a grilled cuttlefish, to veal medallions, and ending with a generous dessert that we shared. We had a bottle of a local white wine that was absolutely wonderful. It was probably, the best and most romantic meal of our trip.

In Hotel
By staying outside of Siena City walls you can save considerably on hotels. Everything within the City is still accessible, and the rooms may have more space and more conveniences. Don't forget to pick a neighborhood to support during the Palio!

Ideal position peaceful location
Clean and comfortable .Staff very helpful . Good position for visiting centre of Siena easy to walk . Easy access to train station .Good breakfast .

exceptional hotel
I was at a conference, my husband was holidaying. This was the perfect hotel. It takes 20 minutes to walk into Siena, 10 minutes on the bus. The staff coudl not have been more courteous. The setting is gorgeous: huge grounds, with beautiful trees and flowers, and the hotel itself exudes effortless luxury. A gin and tonic on the terrace at 6 pm, with a view out over Siena and the Duomo and the Torre del Mangia standing out in the distance, is the perfect end to the day. The breakfasts were unimaginably good. Only downside: broadband connection is extra, and it wasn't always possible to connect to the internet. Hotel nevertheless highly recommended.

Traveling Mom
Beautiful grounds, but misleading info
The Orbitz web site stated shuttle, and there wasn't one. Also the phone number was incorrect. Gentelmen behind the dest didn't seem to have time for us, but the Women was really nice. Have a glass of champagne in the bar, bartender is awesome.
