Great Hotel
We were in Sienna for just one night and did a walking tour. Hotel Athena is a very cute hotel. Front desk was very friendly and the breakfast was one of the best I had in Europe for a free one. The only complaint was the couch bed for our daughter since we had a triple room was not comfortable.

Room was small but clean. Breakfast was good. I wouldn't call it a four star. But would stay if I was going there again. Friendly and helpful staff. I would tell friends about it because of location. And let them know it's not a four star to expect a basic room. Double bed was really two twins put together

Nice place to stay
We were driving and it was difficult to find. There were signs for a while, but then they stopped and we were on our own. A quick call to the hotel told us to enter at P. San Marco and from there it was easy. The location is not central and there isn't much to see in the area, but it's a very short walk to the Duomo and Il Campo areas. Of all the non-central locations, this is probably the best. Beautifully appointed public areas. The rooms, however, are small, cramped and sparse. Hardly any place to put luggage or personal items. The bathroom is also small but adequate. The shower stall was barely big enough to do the job. But everything was immaculate and the staff was very friendly and helpful. And the parking was free in their underground garage. I would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay in Siena
This is a small hotel inside the walls of Siena. The views of Tuscany are breathtaking from Hotel Athena. The rooms are a good size and very clean. There is a great breakfast and the staff was friendly and professional. The hotel is within walking distance of all attractions in Siena. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel to friends.

Good and bad
Great staff in front desk handling checking in/out process. They suggested we should upgrade our room for an additional 20 euros. It had the most wonderful view, a typical Tuscan scenario. However person in charge of breakfast it was the most unpleasant human being. Never (2 days) he welcome us with a "Buon Giorno". He did bother to make sure we had the proper set on our table. We had pick up cutlery and plates from other table. He surely showed he hated his job or pay. Such a contrast with the front desk staff!!

25th anniversary trip
Great room and location
This hotel was truly a 4 star facility and a high point of our 10 day trip to Italy. We celebrated our 25th at this location and wish we had spent more time there. Helpful staff, rooms were well apointed with marble everywhere, good AC, and we had a terrace with a great view of the valley. Siena was a nice place too. Take in the sunset from one of the many cafes around the piazza. If you are a wine lover, we suggest you allow time for a day trip to Montalcino. The drive, views and wine are everything you could imagine Tuscany would be!

See Siena, but take time for a drive around to a few of the hill towns to really get a taste of Tuscany.
