The iQ Hotel Rome is a complex focused on 'made-to-order' vacations, meaning staff are on-hand 24/7, and this Rome hotel operates much more like serviced apartments than typical hotel rooms. Customize your stay however you like, whether thats grabbing a vending machine snack on the way to the business center, serving yourself from the terrace bar, or getting a blast of heat at the sauna. The hotel keeps the decor minimal but comfy, with large red settees for a quick snooze and a leafy, open-air terrace with front-row, outdoor seats for the Opera House.
Key facts
  • 88 guestrooms
  • Breakfast buffet
  • Self-service bar in the lobby
  • Gym and sauna
  • Free Wi-Fi throughout hotel and business center
  • Terrace play area for kids
  • Self-service laundry facilities
Neighborhood
The hotel is located a few blocks north of Rome Termini Station and around 12 minutes from Trevi Fountain. iQ is next door to the Opera House, and there's also plenty for retail enthusiasts to get excited about: iQ is just a short walk from Via Nazionale, renowned for its posh Italian clothing stores, like Marte's, Max Mara and Motivi. Those checking the four grand Basilicas of Rome off their bucket list will be pleased to find the Santa Maria Maggiore church a three-minute walk to the south.
Hints and tips
Dining nearby Skirt around the Opera House and explore the Monti neighborhood for its finest eating establishments - La Piazzetta in Via del Buon Consiglio is well-known for its antipasti offerings.

If you're in a rush to catch your flight home, the iQ has express check-out systems in the lobby - much like the self-service check-in kiosks you find in major airports.

Great Value

Staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are immaculate and modern. Size is better than average for European accommodations. The beds are a little stiff like futons but they were much better than the 2 other full service 4star hotels we stay in Florence and Venice. It's in a prefect location near the termini and the Metro. There's no need for taxis with all the cheap public transportation and basically almost everything is within walking distance, depending on your exercise tolerance, We walked to the Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain easily within 15 minutes. Colosseum and Spanish Stops are just a couple of stops on the Metro. What's really nice is that it's fairly quiet after the noisiness and crowds at the attractions. There's a small fridge perfect for saving money and buying from the grocery store just around the corner. Good restaurants are plenty nearby for a variety of budgets. We stayed there for a few days prior to the bus tours to Florence and Venice and returned for a night prior to leaving. We are so glad we found this wonderful hotel. It's a fantastic value, even compared to the more expensive hotels where we usually stay.

Great value

As good as a non-luxury, non-frou-frou hotel could be. Great location, clean, well ordered, with costs kept to reasonable level by a heavy emphasis on vending machines (even for bottles of wine) and self-service

Great location

The iQ is really well paced for the rome railway station and in easy walking of all the main attractions. The hotel is no frills but still modern and comfortable, rooms maybe a little on the small size for some. Breakfast at 10 euros for all you can eat is great value and the vending machines for snacks and drinks (there is no room service) provide really good value with a bottle of wine being cheaper than you can buy outside in some cases.

Second Honeymoon - Italy 2013 (Rome)

Loved the Hotel, again it was close to the train station which we required. We also were able to wash some clothes, which was nice cause we had 10 days left on our trip.

Fantastic hotel in a central location

I stayed here from 6/3-6/9/13 and was pleasantly surprised by the clean, business-friendly lodging. I was blown away by the customer service and the awesome rooftop deck. The receptionists Hicham, Yevgeniya, and a couple others whose names I unfortunately can't remember now booked our restaurants, arranged for shuttles to Fiumicino, and gave us solid pointers and tricks (for example, don't take a cab if you can avoid it after 10pm as the base fare jumps to 6.50 Euros) to make our stay in Rome enjoyable.

If you feel like a hike, take Nazionale or the 40/64 buses to Largo di Argentina de Torre. Great restaurants, shops, and a quick trot to Piazza Navona.

Great Hotel

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone on staff with talked to spoke English. The room was very clean and the location was within a couple miles of all the major sites. There were some great restaurants close by that the staff also gave recommendations on. The self serve bar was also a plus.

Perfect place to drop bags and enjoy Rome!

This is our second stay. We like to come to Rome on the train for art exhibits, and this is the perfect place to drop our bags and explore. The rooms are small, but well appointed and organized. Hotel IQ i s simple, practical, well-priced and the staff could not be more helpful.

Clean, modern, well located

Stayed 5 days in February 2013 and walked easily everywhere from the well-situated hotel. It's couple blocks from the train station (we rode the train from the airport). Having stayed in dumpy, cramped, retrofitted European hotels with creative plumbing in the past, this was a modern, clean, well-laid-out relief! Our only (very minor) complaints were the bed was kinda firm, and we could not figure out how to get English language TV among the hundreds of channels in our room (but CNN was always running in the lobby).

OK, but overpriced

Stayed on January 1, 2013. The hotel is well located, clean and the rooms have a good size. However, for $200.00+ we paid, I was expecting the hotel to be more refined.

Modern hotel in the heart of Rome.

Great hotel in the heart of Rome. 10 minute walk from Termini station; across from National Opera. Pleasant, clean interior. Rooms much larger than other hotels in area. Great vending and rooftop deck. Great amenities and convenience for a frequent traveler.
