Great for everyone

Very efficient check in and friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are clean and very quiet. Breakfast is wonderful and the complimentary short newspaper is a good idea. The gym is well equipped. The bar area and outdoor area is pleasant. Large TV screen to watch football matches in separate room is popular with some!

GREAT TIME IN ROME

From the moment my wife and I arrived at the hotel it was clear that we were going to enjoy our stay at this hotel. Our room was not ready - as we were early - and the staff were only too keen to allow us to get changed somewhere into our holiday clothes - shorts and t shirts - and let us begin to explore the sights. Our luggage was stored safely pending our return. We did not intend to stay out so long but when we arrived back later on that night the staff advised us that our luggage was in our room - a nice touch. Breakfast was a buffet - but what a choice! - no -one could say that there was not something that they could eat - and if it wasn't here the very pleasant staff were only to happy to try and obtain it for you. Most people use the cleanliness of toilets in restaurants as a standard of how well the overall standard is likely to be. We are no different and the ' public ' toilets in the hotel were spotless. Another standard I use is how clean the gym equipment is . The hotel had a medium sized gym which I used everyday in particular the power jog machine. As usual after my session I would clean the machine especially the sides of the moving mat. I would expect to find some dirt in this area - but I was amazed to find no dirt whatsoever on the power jog machine!! The location of the hotel ideal - in a quiet street just 10 minutes walk from the Vatican and not far away from anywhere really.

Terrific Time in Rome !

We were greeted by a warm and friendly hotel staff, who got off to a great start by allowing us to check in early after an 13 hour trip and an 9am arrival. We immediately collapsed on our beds and slept for a few hours, waking up in the early evening to that we could enjoy our first night in Rome. The room was spotless and well provisioned and the rooftop lounge was beautiful and the food was marvelous. Every morning we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet before heading out to explore the city. The staff gave us very good advice on dining choices in the area and were so very helpful in helping us navigate the cities bus, train and cab services. I told them that I needed flowers delivered to my room for my wife's birthday. The flowers I ordered were in the room when we came back fro our day of site seeing and so was a complimentary bottle of champagne courtesy of the hotel. Very Nice and unexpected! Well Done > The only area we could not 5 stars for was the amenities. The charge for wifi and TV was unnecessary and seemed excessive. So the only thing we watched on television was the CNN and BBC news programs as they were free. All in all, it was a lovey vacation and if you are in considering a trip to Rome, we highly recommend our new friends at the Visconti Palace.

Great location.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights whilst visiting Rome in September. It was fine, the room was spacious and clean and the WiFi was good. It was only 15 min walk to the Vatican and a 20 min walk to the Trevi fountain which was great for sight seeing. We got a shuttle bus to and from the airport from just around the corner of the hotel which made it very convenient. The downside was we were slapped with a tourist tax of 20euros as we were checking out. It left a bad taste in our mouth as with most things in Italy there's a hidden charge built in to all services whether its restaurants, cafes, hotels etc. Be warned!

Not bad hotel but don't believe the hype!

Ever bought something online to have it delivered, only to realise it’s lighter, smaller, and looks like it won’t last a week well this hotel felt like that. The location isn’t bad, it’s about 20 minute walk to Vatican city and the same to the main areas in rome. When you see the hotel for the first time, you may feel very very let down. It looks horrific and derelict from the outside and isn’t the cleanest hotel I’ve seen. The breakfast is ok....although there is variety, it’s like choosing what to get your partner for Christmas from the 1 pound shop.....a lot of choice but nothing really good enough. So, i was disappointed and this hotel should be either 2 or maybe 3 star and NOT 4! But have stayed in worse places and paid more..

Great Hotel

Great hotel in a non-tourist area. The walk to the closest metro was about seven block and the walk to the Spanish steps was a bit longer than that. The staff was great and everyone we encountered spoke English. Breakfast was also really good, but the same thing every day.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

When buying metro passes think twice before buying the 3 day tourist pass. It would be very difficult to use the metro enough for the tourist passes to be cheaper than the individual tickets.

Great location, great experience.

We were interested in the Vatican, and the Visconti is an excellent location, a short walk along the Tiber river , past San Angelo fort and you are in the heart of the Vatican. It is a short bus ride to the coliseum, Villa Burgaese and anything else you wish to see or do while in Rome. Rooms are quaint, modern and well equipped. Breakfast is delicious and spot on. Staff was professional and helpful.
