This is a clean and respectable hotel in a very convenient and safe location. Although the building and facilities have seen better days, for the no-overly fussy, it provides a great Roman experience. Breakfast consists of an extensive buffet either in the top-floor dining area or on the impressive terrace. The only caveat on the terrace is guarding your breakfast from the gulls hovering like vultures. The staff is friendly and helpful. This is my second visit and I've had no reason for complaints.

Convenient location to train termini

I was hoping for better, the convenience was good but things could've been better. It just lacked the comfort and nice touches I was hoping for.

Bitter Disappointment

Location was central. Staff very unfriendly, not welcoming, no service or assistance with luggage. Changed room twice as first room smelt of cigarette smoke, second room was extremely small and had very small lumpy twin single beds which they wanted to join together and walls were all damaged, third room was extremely small and we had to climb over our suitcases. It was also very noisy and every passer by on the street or restaurant outside our window could see & hear us. Could not leave windows open while sleeping for fear of being mugged. No fly screens/bars. Had to shut not only glass windows but inside panels to provide privacy. In all the ensuites the tiles were in need of attention. Breakfast buffet was only cold food. Extremley over-priced. This hotel was definitly not the 4 stars I am used to and did not live up to it's advertising.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Beware of pick-pockets on buses 40 & 64 or any crowded bus especially the ones that run from Piazza Venezia along via Nazionale to Termine Station. Also be aware of people offering to take photos at the Fountain of Trevi as they take bad photos just ot offer you their service for a fee.

Rome experience

If you like small, cramped rooms with a less than friendly staff, then you'll love the Torino Hotel in Rome. I should've known what to expect when I contacted the hotel prior to our stay to ask for walking directions from the train station. I got back a short reply with turn left at the train station and walk 5 minutes. The 5 minutes was right, but the hotel is on a side street so we had a little difficulty finding it. At check-in we were given a very small cramped room with a broken air conditioner. When we contacted the front desk, they said they would have someone fix it, but when no one came after an hour, we asked to change rooms. Luckily, they agreed & gave us a nicer room with a little more space. The bathroom in the first room was so small and cramped that one person barely fit in it. The bathroom in the second room was larger, but the shower in both rooms had very little water pressure. After a 4 hour train trip to Rome, we were looking forward to a nice shower, but that didn't happen at the Hotel Torino. The concierge at the front desk was not very friendly or helpful. While the first guy on duty did change our room after we asked, the second concierge made us feel like a bother when we asked for a restaurant recommendation. He had a very short, get out of here kind of attitude. As for the hotel, while small, it is attractively furnished and clean. We very much enjoyed the breakfast buffet on the terrace. Not a good value for the price. Overall, skip this hotel.

We ate at a lovely restaurant in the Bernini piazza area called "il venuti" or something similar that. The best gelato in Rome is found in the gelato shops around the Trevi Fountain.

Perfect location for everything inc. transfer from airport

Arrived at the Termini station from airport and the hotel was 3 minutes walk away. Walk to main sites approx. 10 - 15 minutes at a leisurely pace. Cannot fault the hotel, breakfast was fabulous and enough to set you up for the day, so much choice and quantity. Bed linen lovely and clean, towels nice and white with free toiletries and even a hairdryer in the bathroom. Room had a safe which was easy to use and free (rare these days). Room was serviced each day we were there. Would recommend using the Terravision bus from the airport which was so easy to use and dropped at the Termini station. Tour bus is around the corner and would recommend taking this as you get to see all of the sites and can hop on and off then get back to the hotel after a full eventful day.

Use Terravision bus from airport as hotel is a 3 minute walk over the road and around the corner and only costs 4 Euros each way, very easy to use and safe.

just OK

the room was quite small and the beds were the worst part; they need to replace them asap. on the other hand the location was very convenient with a lot of restaurants near by as well as metro station and main train terminal Ternimi. I would rate this hotel as ** only

Nice and friendly, close to everything

Nice location, very close to the railway station, only 15 mins of walking to Coliseum, the Monument of Emmanuel II etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They serve breakfast (included) on the rooftop and you may see a nice panoramic view of the city.

Better than sleeping on the street

They didn't help bring any bags to the room. Staff made it seem like every question was a great burden to answer. Rooms were tiny. Wifi was overpriced. Early check-in was not allowed. Cigarette smell came in through AC when other people were smoking in their rooms. The AC was anemic.

Look for restaurants where actual Romans are going to eat. Good places are mixed in with the bad, so you can only tell if a place is good when the people filling up the place at lunchtime are speaking Italian.

Good Value - Good location

Very good value - nice breakfast was included and the staff was very friendly. I asked for a late check-out and could leave at 1 PM without a problem. I asked for a double room just for myself because I was worried about room size and needed some space to work. The room had two beds but was still very cramped. The shower sprayed all over the place and the water was at best tepid.

Not so pleasent

I was traveling around Europe and decided to visit Rome for 3 days. I stayed in the Trino Hotel for all 3 days and was not impressed with the accommodations. This hotel does not rate 4 stars, possibly 3. The lobby looks great and promising but the rooms are a far cry from luxurious. It does have all the necessities but barely... for example the beds, the beds in our room were what you would expect of a roller bed (hard and the sheets were old)... although the bathroom is nice. The staff was extremely unhelpful. I asked for a map and they simply pointed to a counter with a ton of pamphlets. i then asked about the city and they looked at me like i was an idiot. Very unhelpful, the staff has no business in the hospitality business. oh yeah... the internet is only available in the lobby, actually only on the couch in the lobby... very slow. i'm sorry if this sounds really negative but compared to my other travels this was defiantly subpar. for the price LOOK elsewhere
