Excellent for 3 star hotel

We had few expectations going in Rome. The hotel was clean and extremely quiet. No sounds from the street as our room was on the quiet courtyard. We woke up to the smell of fresh bread and sound of birds! Location was quite good in the coliseum area, about 5 minutes from the subway line. A few reasonable restaurants across the quiet street. Continental breakfast was adequate, but certainly not an attraction. Staff was pleasant.

Horrible customer service

The hotel was clean and simple , but I was disappointed that housekeeping ignored the do not disturb sign that I put outside my door. Also, the 90 of the Staff were very grumpy!

Location is a 4+

We were greeted with a nice smile and a bonjourno. A basic space for a room with a very European bed and surprisingly modern bathroom. Breakfast was again very bare minimum but quite tasty. The staff were helpful but like all of Rome not overflowing with smiles and personality. Location was GREAT. We were able to walk to everything.(Vatican City is a long walk, but doable) Lots of great restaurants and cafe's close by. Affordable and clean with a great location. At the end of the day, Rome is about exploring not your room.

Good value

Good size and comfortable bed. Small shower. Breakfast very simple. We decided to buy fruit and bread and cheese for our own breakfast. Shops are nearby and the fruit quality and variety is excellent. The room looked clean but my socks turned almost black from dirt after walking from the bedrrom to the bathroom. Excellent location. You can walk To several attractions. The area feels safe.

The Moses sculpture created by Miguel Angel is in a basilica nearby. Ask about it and go. It is not promoted and we got there by accident.

Adequate City Break Hotel

The room was small but adequate in a good position for City. Staff very pleasant & helpful. Bath towels very thin (like T-towels). Breakfast poor, bread & croissant every day, the fruit juice was tasteless! The same red liquid every day! The coffee was poor & tasted of Chicory! The English tea was tasteless. It could be a lot better.

Great location, friendly staff, good value

the hotel Tirreno is located near two metro stations Cavour (2 min walk) and Termini (7-10 min walk) in Santa Maria Maggiore church area on a very quiet street with two absolutely amazing restaurants (one is Pizzeria, the other one is Ristorante La Forchetta d'oro with a fantastic chef Omar). We had a standard double bed room with AC (pretty handy amenity as the weather was getting warm), good size room. There is a pretty garden courtyard in the hotel where you can sit and relax with a glass of wine after tours. Although there were NO tv channels in English, just French and Italian. This is definitely needs to be improved to attract more English speaking customers. The shower was very small (fortunately we are not XXL size people, so we were all right). The breakfast was pretty poor. Just coffee, a croissant, a roll and you have to ask the staff for yogurt if you want it. Overall great value for the money we paid.

Good hotel

The hotel was good, staff was great! Friendly and helpful. Breakfast was awesome, the location is a bit unconvinient for the first day if you don't know the area but close to metro so, once you find the hotel no issues getting around. Rooms are a bit small but it is Rome after all. Over all I liked it.

City Break

Excellent location. Rooms clean and reasonably comfortable; garden side very quiet. Breakfasts dreadful so we had to go out to a cafe and the service in the dining room was grumpy. Service on the reception desk was very good.

Waste of money, time, and patience

Very disappointing stay. Save yourself the hassle and just stay at a hostel or something. The quality is about the same or better, and the staff will be a whole lot nicer. The room was small, beds stiff, television useless, and the breakfast consisted of two pieces of bread, bran flakes, sour juice, and a poor excuse for Italian coffee. That's it. Normally I could tolerate all that if it wasn't for the fact that the staff was rude and completely unhelpful. Take it from my experience: My visit at the Hotel Tirreno was going well for about three hours. I checked in around 4 pm and then left shortly to go to a music concert. I left tmy room key at the hotel reception desk and told them I would be returning late. They said, "That's fine. Have fun." When I returned at 02:15, the door was locked. And no one was attending the front desk, even though, I learned later, their policy is to have the hotel reception desk attended 24 hours a day. I rang the doorbell around 10 times, knocked, and waited outside the door for twenty minutes. No one returned to the front desk. No one opened the door. I had no choice but to wait outside the rest of the night. Thankfully it was warm. But I felt unsafe, because this hotel is located on a dark side street, and it doesn't feel like the safest part of town. I was finally able to enter the hotel at 6 am. This wasn't even the worst part of my stay. The worst part is that after I returned to the hotel and calmly (and I stress calmly) explained my situation, the staff were completely rude, on the border of condescending, and did nothing - I mean nothing - to help the situation. Instead, they asked me a bunch of annoying questions ("can you describe exactly how you knocked on the door?"), said this situation was my fault, and told me I should have known better. I discussed, pleaded, and finally argued with these guys for at least two hours, and still they Refused to give me a refund - or even a free cup of coffee, for that matter. I had prepaid for the hotel (I'll never do that again) and so the best solution they had for me is to contact this travel company to get it sorted out. Bottom line is they took a bad situation and made it ten times worse by being rude and condescending.
