Born on a modern and international concept of art and design, The First Luxury Art Hotel Roma is located in the historical center of Rome, Via del Vantaggio, a step away from Piazza del Popolo, Via del Corso and Via del Babuino. The historic building, which dates back to the 19th century, has been completely renovated in accordance with the original architecture and redesigned with refined colors and natural materials to give life to a modern class atmosphere. The charming soul of the building and enchanting ambience of the surrounding lanes ensure guests a moving experience, rich with intriguing contrasts between history and modernity, between tradition and technology. Paintings, sculptures, books, fondly placed all over the Palazzo create a mood of relaxed quietness that one may easily forget that this hideaway is a five star luxury hotel in the historic center of Rome. Opened in May 2011, we welcomes every guest to venture into the new concept of luxury lifestyle with professional and vibrant staff, to make your stay a unique, unforgettable experience. Offering a personalized service by a multi lingua Host reachable 24 hours, completely dedicated to customer needs from making dinner reservations, arranging airport transfer, organizing city tours to discover the secret of eternal city to finding the perfect personal shopper or private art gallery consultant. Two splendid locations for savoring the excellent cooking of the Overhall restaurant: the elegant lobby on the ground floor and the roof garden which offers a breathtaking view of the Roman rooftops. Since its opening The First Hotel was associated with Preferred Boutique Hotels, a worldwide recognition for the excellence in service and unique products and recently has been selected as one of the best 7 hotels in Italy and among the top 121 World's Best New Hotels on the Conde Nast Traveler Hotel List 2012.

Decent Hotel with Awful Staff; definitely not 5 Star

I stayed at The First for 7 nights; I had 2 connecting rooms on the 4th floor. The location is excellent (A+) and the hotel has a new and modern feel to it with very cool art throughout. The rooms were clean and large enough if you don't plan on spending much time in them. The shower is one of the most important components of a room for me and this one passed with a B. The First is certainly not a 5 star hotel, however. The staff is indifferent and poorly trained. I arrived at the hotel earlier than the stated check-in time and the staff was unable/unwilling to make any suggestions or provide any assistance for the period of time between my arrival and check-in. This is something I have never encountered at a 5 star hotel. I was never greeted at the entrance and there was rarely anyone stationed at the door to open it for you. The turn down was performed at 1700 ever day, much too early for a turn down. Requests for ice were so difficult for the staff that I eventually quit asking for it. I paid 129 Euro for transportation to the hotel from the airport and that went well. But, I paid another 129 Euro for transportation from the hotel to the airport and the hotel forgot to put one of my bags on the van so I ended up waiting for it at at the airport for 30 to 45 minutes. Completely unacceptable. The rooftop bar/restaurant is NOT in any way provided as a perk for guests. The staff was indifferent and untrained. In summary, hotel staff/service deserves an F-. I've had better service at a Hilton Garden Inn. I highly suggest that Americans avoid this hotel. I have stayed at the Intercontinental (same price) and the Hassler (more expensive) and both of them are MUCH BETTER alternatives.

Well located, quality hotel

Great location in a small, quiet side street. All excellent except for very small room for the price - although well equipped and very comfortable. Would suggest paying extra for a larger room would be worthwhile. Staff were all first class and could not have been more helpful.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Within 200 metres of the hotel are some excellent restaurants/trattoria just as good as any of the more famous eateries further afield.
