Sophisticated hotel outside St. Peter's Square

A sunny lobby lounge with brocade sofas and marble floors ushers guests into Starhotels Michelangelo Rome, which sits in the heart of baroque Rome along the ancient walls of Vatican City. A candlelit piano bar with button-tufted leather couches and mirrored walls is perfect for evening cocktails. Tastefully traditional rooms include pillow menus and a selection of beauty products. A short commute by foot to St. Peter's Square and Vatican museums means less wait for those who arrive early.

four star, Vatican area

The hotel is a real four star hotel. The room size is good, a decent view (ask for a high floor), clean (though housekeeping does have some quirks). The breakfast is good enough and the front desk is helpful if not always completely accurate with their information. The only complaint, and it's a big one for me, is the internet/wifi. There is only one computer for the hotel and the wifi for my ipad was a joke. You get one free hour a day of wifi in your room and unlimited only of the first floor. But the signal, no matter where you were, was often weak or nonexistent. Otherwise, it was a lovely experience and only two blocks from the Vatican and a 15 minute walk to the metro.

kraft hotel great location

[...] at the front desk was wonderful.Very pleasant and helpful, went out of his way to make stay pleasant, provide directions, and generally, just a smiling happy helpful fellow. The other staff was a lot less helpful, the staff at the rooftop bar was rude and one waiter actually sat with people at the next table and would not get up to wait on me. i had to go over to him to ask for a cup of coffee. I realize that service is different in Italy, but that bar/cafe had the worst service that I had during my entire stay in Italy. The younger man that worked at the bar was more pleasant but less than attentive as well. I would recommend the hotel, but not the rooftop pool/bar area that their website touts as some great area to relax. The room was tiny but clean. Internet, movies and the restaurant were very expensive, I didn't even eat there, [...] was able to recommend some great spots to find on foot and I found some great little cafes for about a third of the price of the restaurant.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

A very short walk to the Arno river, walk about 10-15 minutes along the river to get to the Ponte Vecchio as well as the Uffizi. Also walking distance to the Santa Maria Novella, a beautiful church with amazing artwork and a cute piazza.
