Christmas in Rome
Perfect situation, outstanding staff. We were staying in Rome for Christmas with our 17 y/o daughter. We wanted something central and comfortable without staying in another chain hotel. Hotel Ponto Sisto was all this and more. We walked to the Vatican, Colosseum, the Spanish Steps and more. The front desk booked restaurants for us each evening and they got better each night. One of the concierge was less helpful, but the others were great. Our balcony was lovely, but I'll bet it is spectacular in the spring.

Great place great location July 2011
This was a great place, their was three of us my husband, 20 year old son and myself. Our accomendations consisted of a bathroom with plenty of space, a small bedroom with one twin size bed and another bedroom with two twins that were pushed together. This was a great size considering the other hotels we stayed at in Itlay. Nice contential breakfast, the staff was very friendly and cold speak very good English. Everything was within a 20 minute walk from the hotel which made it nice. Tons of shops and little places to eat were around hotel.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Across the Tiber river over the bridge there is a small resturant located on Vicolo de' Cinque 36 called Hostaria del Moro da Tony which is a good place to eat and then in the square behind the hotel (Campo de Fiori) there is a place called Baccanate which is an excellent place to eat also.

a bit of a mixed bag, but good choice
The rooms are not large, and the hotel could use a bit of a better design sense. But the location was very good, the staff was first class and excellent, and the central patio is lovely. However, we were rushing to catch a morning flight and the included breakfast was not ready at 7 as promised, so we left at 7:20 with no breakfast! But this was made up for by the responsive and helpful staff. I forgot items in my room and before I could call the hotel i had an email requesting my address and the items were immediately sent on to me. they were also very helpful with transportation and other information. Very good value for the price

Perfect Hotel, Perfect Location for Rome
I chose this hotel for a romantic get away. While I was intitially surprised that it was in an alley, a quick walk of Rome showed me all hotels are in alleys, unlike the US. For the price I was expecting quaint, what I got was a small hotel that looked 4 star. The hotel and staff could not have been better. For location, we were able to walk everywhere. It is half way between the Vatican and the Colessium, so we walked to both. (one per day) Bang for the buck I feel was very good. The breakfast in the morning is something that you definately don't want to miss. The exact location is just 50 yards from the river in the Testeverde area of Rome, which I think is best to see all the main sites. We also went to Serento, Venice and Florence. Hopefully you will love your trip to Italy as much as we did.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Avoid the larger tourist restaraunts. Get lost in the back alleys and find a smaller real family run Italy dinner place. It will cost less and give you a better feel for Italy. I never walked so much in my life and never felt anything but completely safe. All of Italy walks everywhere til all hours of the night. I will miss it.
