Lovely hotel, staff especially Victoria at the reception desk was really helpful and friendly which really made us feel welcome. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. There was not bar but there was a breakfast room - breakfast was very satisfactory with a buffet and lots to chose from. Location wise - a bit out of town but not unmanageable. It was a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this place

Friendly and helpful staff

The hotel staff are very friendly and very helpful. The hotel is a little out of the way but there's a bus stop 10 mins walk away and it goes straight into the heart of Rome. It's a 15 minute walk to the tram. The hotel is clean and tidy and the room was slightly small but you spend so little time in it, it's actually ample. I would definitely stay here again

Never a 4 star and badly in need of a makeover

My family and I stayed in the Panama Garden Hotel for our extended Rome City break in August 2013. We have stayed in many hotels all over the world. This was probably one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in. It is nowhere near a 4 star hotel, I'd say it's a 2 star at best given the facilities available. Our triple room was barely a double and was too small for 1 adult and 2 children. We literally lived out of our suitcase as we couldn't unpack as the third single bed was strategically placed in front of the cupboard to make access impossible. Everything was broken or in a state of disrepair. The bathroom entrance had a protruding screw on the door plate and all the bathroom furniture was unstable and cracked with leaking water. The hotel is in need of an urgent makeover. I don't believe it's had a makeover since 1960 when Brigitte Bardot stayed there. The hotel is a good 15 minute bus ride away from Termini station and Rome city centre which would have been fine if the hotel accommodation was up to scratch. Rome was fantastic but the Panama Garden hotel was poor. The only saving grace for the hotel was that the staff were very pleasant but that could not make up for the poor accommodation and facilities.

Don't visit the Vatican museum and St Peter's Basilica on Sunday and definitely don't pay for the skip the line guided tours. Sunday apart there isn't much of a queue to skip and the guided tour was poor. Not value for money at all.

Excellent stay in Rome

The Panama Garden Hotel is a lovely hotel set in gardens, it has several nice areas to sit and have some peace and quiet. Our second floor room was small but very comfortable, with the kettle, fridge and free wifi being well used. The staff were all very efficient and always polite and helpful. The area around the hotel felt very safe and was about 20 minutes into the centre of Rome. The buses are fairly frequent but beware pickpockets on the crowded buses and underground.

Cute hotel, cramped quarters

Darling hotel 2 mikes away from the sights of Rome. Clean but small quarters. We traveled with 2 kids- ages 11 and 12 and decided to book an extra room for more space- very happy we did that. Barely enough room in the hotel for the two of us!!!

Great Staff at this hotel

We had a short break in Rome. This place is definitely a bit off the beaten track but this can be an advantage in the sense that it is much quieter and calmer than many parts of Rome. Bus services are actually quite easy to work out and catch. Taxis are however very expensive. When our small one fell asleep I was left with a 35 euro taxi bill which was a bit much. The front desk staff are very efficient, friendly and helpful.
