Hard to get in to
No e-mail address was provided so we could not contact the hotel to tell them when we were coming. We were not informed that it was hard to gain entry. We pushed the button for the property and got no response. Had to go call. When we finally got in, the place was nice. However, we left our bags there and no one was there to let us in to pick them up.

Perfect location
Although the owner of the B/B was a bit grumpy when I got there, the location of the B/B couldn't have been better for sightseeing while in Rome. He changed me to a different room as I had arrived early and my original room wasn't ready which was fine as it had the same amenities it seemed. There is a computer with free internet access (a mac!) and food and drink for breakfast that is available all day in the kitchen. Once I got the hang of getting in and out of the building I was all set. There is unfortunately no elevator, but you are staying in a grand old Italian home that is divided up into various businesses and offices now and was a site itself. The a/c worked fine the entire time I was there and I had my own private bath across the hall.

About two blocks from the Colosseo. Around the corner a great little cafe - inexpensive and the food is wonderful.

Wonderful
This is not a hotel. It is a bed and breakfast. It is wonderfully located near major shopping and tourist centers. The staff was fabulous and helpful. We had a private bath and a shared living room and kitchen. Very clean and felt very safe. I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Rome.

Buy a ROMA Pass and learn the subways and buses. You can go nywhere cheaply, safely, and fun. This B & B was near a major bus stop and a short walk to the subway.

Great Location, Great Staff
Quarters may be a little tight by American standards but the facilities in this bed and breakfast were very welcoming. The location is great for walking the ancient area and getting to the main train station.

Very accomodating
Matisse Properties was very accomodating. We were placed in a different location than we originally expected, which turned out to be a plus for us. It was the last night of our trip and we were around the corner from the Colosseum, the one sight we most wanted to visit on that stay in Rome. It was a newly developed property, so still showing some signs of updating, but our room was clean and the shower was the best we had in Italy. They helped us arrange transportation to FCO for the following morning which made the start of our trip home stress free and comfortable.

Dorm Room
This hotel was not really a hotel. It was more like a 2-bedroom apartment. My bathroom was down the hall and was not very nice and a bit smelly. The TV was 13 with a remote that did not work and had no English speaking stations, not even CNN or BBC. I was in Rome for photography reasons and was out of the hotel 16+ hours a day, so I just slept there. For that it was not to spend a fortune on something fancy. The location on Via Nazionale is really good. And you do start to feel like a local not stepping out of a hotel lobby every morning. Oh and there was a little fridge if you want to keep some things.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Via Nazional is a major shopping street with mid tier shops including Fiorucci and Benetton. It's also a very busy and noisy street.
