The 1920s-era Ludovisi Palace Hotel in Rome has enough flapper flair balanced with mod dapperness to please both history buffs and anyone looking for a comfy vacation spot. A renovation in 2001 brought English - style ambience to the establishment, with rooms decked out in sunny shades of blue and yellow, and tiled floors and original fireplaces making the communal areas both impressive and cozy. Grab a sightseeing tip or two from the friendly staff as you try the lobby bar's cocktails and snack menu, or tap into the free Wi-Fi (fees may apply) to catch up with work if you're in Rome on busines

The Ludovisi Palace Hotel is located right in the Via Veneto area of Rome, a popular focal point for the bar-frequenting crowd, as well as eager shoppers wanting to comb the streets made famous in La Dolce Vita. Also within easy walking distance of both the world-famous Piazza and the Spanish Steps, the serene Villa Borghese Gardens nearby turn a restful walk into a trip back to Rococo England.
Hints and tips
The hotel's bar serves snacks, but guests looking to expand their dinner options can do so down multiple side streets filled with local restaurants and bistros in Via Veneto. hardly 4 star

the hotel is in a lovely part of Rome and there is a Metro station close which is great. The front desk staff were wonderful and very helpful. ...although the breakfast staff were dreadful and miserable as sin and it took all our time for it not to rub off on us !!! Breakfast was just Ok and the breakfast room was so cramped it was painful to sit too long ...the worst part was the noise though..the walls of the bedrooms were paper thin and we didnt sleep for the entire 4 night trip..every word could be heard from both rooms either side of us....no tea of coffee facitilies in the room either which was a little disappointing for a 4 star hotel.

Ok I suppose

Whilst this hotel had nothing wrong with it I find very little to praise it for, staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean though we found nothing to really justify its 4* rating.

Rome in Spring and The Ludovisi Palace

The hotel is not very impressive, small rooms and ho-hum decor. However, the staff does make all the difference. This is a small hotel, not for those looking for style, but the staff is very engaging and helpful with their recommendations. They always took the time to help me plan outings, routes, weight in options and follow up with reservations and even lost items. It is not right in the middle of everything, but definitely very conveniently located a few blocks from the top of the Spanish steps and in a very quiet and safe area, very welcome at night! My only real issue was with the tour operators they recommended. Even though seemingly convenient with a bus stop right across from the hotel, it was The worst of all the operators: missed stops, very long waits, curt & disrespectful guides.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

I am Italian and a food lover, but did not have the best dining experience at restaurants. make sure to check your michelin guide rather than follow the hotel's recommendations, with one exception: Franchi. This is an establishmen in Via Cola di Rienzo, you have to get in line and order food at the counter but it was truly the best!!! plus this is a more quieter and better shopping street than Via del Corso, same stores but less crowds and therefore way better service. This was one of the best recommendations from the staff at the Ludovisi.

Great hotel!

Ludovisi Palace is a great place to stay! The staff is very helpful and friendly. It's not central and a little out of the way of the main tourist sites, but because Rome is so walkable and has good public transportation, it wasn't a problem at all. We walked all over the city from there.

4 Days in Rome

What a great base for exploring Rome, sightseeing tour bus stops 50m away, good restuarants within 10 mins walk. Staff super helpful and very friendly, one small niggle was that you could hear everyone else above you's water running behind your wall in room 105. Amazing City tho and break not spoilt in slightest

ludovisi hotel, rome

The rooms are small but very clean. The hotel is in a quiet location away from the city noise yet it is well located for public transport. There is a Spar shop along the road and lots of restaurants nearby. The staff are helpful and polite. The only downside is that the breakfast room is tiny and the buffet breakfast may not suit everyone. The other drawback was coping with the hand-held shower arrangement over the bath. You need to be a small person and very agiile to shower with any degree of success.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Bus and underground services are available at Barberini - just a short walk from the hotel. A ticket costs 1.5 euros and gives 100 minutes of travel.

Mini Vacation

Location was great ... easy to get around and the staff was wonderful. We got in late and wanted to have something to eat, the front desk person gave us directions to a place close by and even called to let them know we were on our way.

A few days in August

Hotel is in a good location, not far from Spanish Steps, Palazzo Barberini and Villa Borghese, and not far from metro stations. Nice restaurants in nearby streets. The hotel was quite smart and very clean and the buffet breakfast was very good. The room was very clean and was comfortable, but a bit smaller than others we have had previously in other hotels in Rome. The airconditioning/heating worked. The bathroom was a bit small (and we are not large), but not all of the rooms are the same - ours was a standard double/twin. The staff were pleasant, polite and helpful. We would certainly stay here again when we come back to Rome.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The Villa Borghese is understaffed. The queuing arrangements are inadequate. You will not be allowed to take even very small bags into the gallery. Buy tickets online before leaving home, and collect them at the ticket office at least 1 hour before your entry time, not 30 minutes as officially advised. There is one queue, and only one member of staff, for both advance ticket purchases and ticket collection, and you must then queue again to deposit all your bags etc before entry. Again there is only one person receiving bags and the queues for depositing and retrieving bags are combined, so the queue is very long. Don't wait until your entry time to deposit your bags.
