just arrived
We have just arrived, decided to come to Rome and have never been here before did know what to expect, read so many reviews, not all good, some quiet negative, I read watch out for taxi drivers for transfers. We pre booked could not have had a better transfer, snowing when we arrived. Ludovisi Hotel again many negative reviews, room size no bath, etc. Hotel is lovely, clean, rooms plenty big enough, what do want a suite! Warm, -1c outside, very quiet in Hotel, Staff couldn't be more helpful. Reception fast clear and friendly.

Great hotel!
Ludovisi Palace is a great place to stay! The staff is very helpful and friendly. It's not central and a little out of the way of the main tourist sites, but because Rome is so walkable and has good public transportation, it wasn't a problem at all. We walked all over the city from there.

typical European hotel
Though small and older, everything was clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was nice. It was very close to the Spanish steps and the Trevi fountain and also close to a good hop on-hop off bus. I would advise allowing plenty of time for calling a taxi to the train station or airport; five minutes of their time equals 25 minutes of my time. (barely made the train).

Great Place and location
Hotel was perfect for what we needed. Just flew in and they had our rooms ready. Great location and not a bad walk from the train station - 25-30 minutes with luggage.

Rome in Spring and The Ludovisi Palace
The hotel is not very impressive, small rooms and ho-hum decor. However, the staff does make all the difference. This is a small hotel, not for those looking for style, but the staff is very engaging and helpful with their recommendations. They always took the time to help me plan outings, routes, weight in options and follow up with reservations and even lost items. It is not right in the middle of everything, but definitely very conveniently located a few blocks from the top of the Spanish steps and in a very quiet and safe area, very welcome at night! My only real issue was with the tour operators they recommended. Even though seemingly convenient with a bus stop right across from the hotel, it was The worst of all the operators: missed stops, very long waits, curt & disrespectful guides.

Short drive from hotel
I am Italian and a food lover, but did not have the best dining experience at restaurants. make sure to check your michelin guide rather than follow the hotel's recommendations, with one exception: Franchi. This is an establishmen in Via Cola di Rienzo, you have to get in line and order food at the counter but it was truly the best!!! plus this is a more quieter and better shopping street than Via del Corso, same stores but less crowds and therefore way better service. This was one of the best recommendations from the staff at the Ludovisi.

Great Rome Hotel & Great Staff
We stayed at the Ludovisi Palace Hotel in Rome for a week and it was a perfect spot for us and the friends we traveled with! The location is close to Metro and bus lines (a short walk to the Via Veneto). The staff, including everyone from the doormen to the desk people, were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was very nice with a bathroom that had ample space for toiletries, a clothes line over the tub, and a warming rack for towels. Breakfast included eggs, bacon, meats, cereals, fruit, juice, coffee, rolls, yoghurt, and other delicious delights! We had a nice flat-screen TV with CNN in English so we felt very much "at home."

Pepy's Bar - located on the Via Veneto. Go upstairs between 5:30-9:00 PM and have a drink and the heavy appetizer buffet for nine Euros. Best bargain in the area!
