double charged for smallest room
the hotel was okay, definitely not luxury. the location is somewhat convenient for walking to historical sites during the day. however, there is not much to do in the area at night. i would not stay at this hotel ever again because i booked the room for two nights at orbitz and the hotel told me that they did not receive the reservation. however, i just returned from my trip and i see that both the hotel and orbitz charged me for the trip. also, the hotel gave me the smallest room on the floor with absolutely no view. the room felt like a tiny closet. also, the bathroom flooded and the hotel took half a day to attend to this.

Awful! Maids Defecate in your Toilet!
La Griffe Hotel was a nightmare, start to finish! Advertised as a 5-Star Hotel, we expected 4-Star as we were told the ratings were different in Europe. This hotel is barely 2 star, and due to the horrendous incidents that occurred, we are giving it a very generous 1 star, but only because there is no option for ZERO stars!!! 1. The comforters are feather filled, they have no other choice. The comforter in mine and my husbands room did not even have a duvet cover on it -- There were feathers everywhere (and we are allergic)! I pulled off the sheet that was covering it -- to find HOLES EVERYWHERE! These holes were covered with STICKERS! PAPER STICKERS! And they were all PEELING OFF REVEALING HOLES AND FEATHERS FLYING EVERYWHERE. I stopped counting at 45 holes! This is what goes against your body as you are sleeping! Rough paper stickers! I called the front desk and they barely understood what I was saying. I finally got them to take them away, but they had nothing to replace them with, other than scratchy wool blankets, which we got for both our room and our kids' room. ALSO... they do not use top sheets! Only a bottom sheet! I asked for TWO SHEETS for each bed, and finally got them, only to find the next day, the maids had removed them along with the blankets.!! So on day two, we had to go through the entire process of getting blankets and sheets again, and only ended up getting 2 blankets for our kids rooms, none for ours!! For our entire 5 night stay, we slept without a comforter and in my room also without a blanket! 2. On our 2nd day, while the maids were putting on the 2nd sheet we requested, my husband and I stood in the bathroom in order to be out of their way (the rooms are SO TINY AND CRAMPED two people can't pass each other around the bed which fills the whole room - you can't even use the drawers in the closet because they can't open due to the nightstand being in front of them!). Anyway, something SMELLED... REALLY BAD! My husband opened the toilet lid to find that the MAID HAD [*] IN OUR TOILET AND DIDN'T FLUSH IT! We were outraged, and called the front desk but of course they did nothing about that either! So at this point we had to ASK for "do not disturb signs" and put them on our door, and had to refuse maid service for the remainder of our 5 day stay -- we did NOT want them taking our sheets away again and not replacing them, and we did NOT want them defecating in our toilet and not flushing it!!!!! OTHER ISSUES WHICH MADE THIS NOT A 5 STAR ESTABLISHMENT: 1. We sent out a bunch of items to them for DRY CLEANING. We had to go ask for them the next evening as they never returned them. They said "we don't have them here, we'll go get them." 2 Hours later they brought them up... FOLDED not on hangers... and they were SOAKING WET!!! DRY CLEANING SOAKING WET???? Silk tops, ruined! We had to hang everything to dry and were without the clothes we needed for 2 more days! 2. Curtains falling off the track. 3. NO soap dish, soap scum everywhere. 4. Shower stalls in BOTH our rooms leaked and completely FLOODED the bathroom floors! 5. Mini bars practically empty. 6. TV reception unwatchable, only CNN in English. 7. NO TISSUES! THEY DO NOT STOCK TISSUES IN YOUR ROOM AT ALL! 8. NO SPARE TOILET TISSUE! RAN OUT AND HAD TO ASK FOR IT. 9. Our room was across the hall from the maids station/room -- they were CONSTANTLY noisy and loud laughing and talking early in the morning and late at night. 10. Room Service - the food was ICE COLD.. cold burgers, cold french fries. 11. CLEANLINESS: While basically clean looking on the surface... look under your bed! In both of our rooms it was completely dusty and filled with feathers from the leaking comforters! 12. INTERNET: They charge 10 euro per day per computer. You have to go down to the desk to get a code. The code will run out in a few minutes - you have to go get another one... we went through this so many times it was ri...

Good location, poor service
Great location with large clean modern room. The toilet was broken, and loose from wall. Hotel staff did not consider this an issue and would not relocate. Defintely "not" gay friendly. Tried to impose "so called" taxes on check out. Although a great location, my experience with the staff and the rip off nature would not entice me back to this hotel.

Huge mistake!
Extremely disappointing experience. We were given a small room without a window (and the air conditioning couldn´t be turned on this time of year!). We had to sleep (or try to, at least) in a stuffy hot room. After complaining, we were given a good room the next day. The staff is extremely kind and willing to help, but rooms such as the one where we spent the first night shouldn´t be legal. The hotel is in no way a luxury hotel and no 5 star hotel. In our new room, the internet didn´t work and the phone only made inside calls! Twenty first century and no communication with the outside world. All these problems ended up making our stay pretty stressful.

Good but not great
We loved the room but it is not a five star. It looks great when you walk in due to the funky design. However the room got very hot and wouldn't cool down and the bathroom was not functional at all. The shower curtain wouldnt close and soaked the floors. The tv reception was fuzzy and had only 6 channels (1 french, 2 English, 1 portuguese, 2 Italian). However, if you want a well priced, nice hotel in a great location then this is a good choice. It's not a 5 star, but doesn't charge like one either. The friendly staff were excellent.

The Library restaurant is one of the best I have been to anywhere in my travels. Exceptional atmosphere and great service went hand in hand with the great food and wine list. Only 6 tables and very romantic!

Good location, shame about the service -
Hotel full on night of arrival, so placed in a nearby hotel and had to move during 2nd day. We booked a superior room, but first room was U/S, 2nd no better and then we just took what was available. Staff were unfriendfly, offhand and not helpful. Issues over disappearing cash. Would not recommend.

NIce location, but....
Staff were very polite and helpful Staff were not very open about travel options to Fiumicino Airport - clearly they are encouraged to offer the (expensive) limo option. Jazz was advertised as being on when it wasn't. Convenient location for A line metro and Termini station. It is 'gloss' but not a luxury hotel in US terms.

La griffe hotel in roma
The hotel is nice and staff was ok. We had a problem with the room. the room had no outside view - view on the internal stair - not really good - and the room was very hot (AC was not working) and the staff did not want to change us except if we pay an extra. Not really fair.

Traveling on the Cheap
Europe on a Shoestring Budget
The hotel and room was spotless and the staff was very nice. The room and bathroom were very small and the window faced and inside fire escape BUT we felt it was reasonable for the price we paid and felt comfortable and safe there. The breakfast (included) was really great with plenty to eat and delicious fresh fruit, juices, pastries, cereals, scambled eggs, etc. The location couldn't be beat and if we are blessed enough to make another trip to Rome, we would stay there again.

Long walk from hotel
If we could do it over again, we would do our sightseeing differently. Wish we would have taken the hop on/off bus and scoped things out first. We wound up walking from Vatican City to the coloseum and beyond because everything was so close but started rushing everywhere and could have enjoyed the sights much more. We stayed in Rome 2 days after a cruise and should have used our time more wisely. There is so much to see and do!

Modern hotel with doormen
Directly on Via Nazionale which is short taxi ride from Termini train station - convenient. Hotel is posh modern/trendy. Hotel staff are very accomodating and friendly. Rooms are quite small, even for Italy standards and ultra modern, esp bathroom and shower, but amazing water pressure in circular small shower. Would stay again. Clean and comfortable.

If gluten free, all pharmacies cell gluten free biscotti and pastas, and all restaurants will cook pasta for you if you bring with you. Via Serpenti had little cafe with nice owners to accomodate.
