Neighborhood
Just moments away you'll find the Baths of Diocletian, an imposing complex that could accommodate 3,000 people at once. Stroll through the ruins and the sculpture-filled courtyard, and wile away a few hours learning about Roman culture through the highly educational displays. The area around the hotel teems with boutiques, bars and restaurants, so this part of town breathes vibrant air into Rome, with history never too far away. The Colosseum, a must-see historic site for any visitor, is also just a short stroll from the hotel.
Hints and tips
Ask for a room on the 4th floor if you would like a balcony; those overlooking the Opera House tend to be quieter than those overlooking the street.

Great location

This hotel was 2 blocks from Roma Termini. It was easy to walk to and close to a Metro station. The room was much bigger than we had expected and very comfortable.

Good value for money

The hotel is well located with Roma Termini less than a 10 min walk away. All tour buses start from around this area, just a 5 min walk in any direction from the hotel. We walked to the Trevi fountain, Piazza Novona, Piazza di Spagna and it didn't feel too far, just ~20 mins walk. The front desk can help with the arrangements for excursions. The wifi functioned well, which we felt was not very common in other 3 star italian hotels. Breakfast was just about average - they had some artificially sweetened juice and no fresh juices.

A good choice for Rome touring

This hotel has a good location from the Termini Station. There are two metro station options that aren't too far from the hotel. We used both stations to get to the sites. The room was nothing fancy but was comfortable and clean enough. The shower had some mold issues that should be taken care of. Breakfast was okay but could use more fruit and savory options.

Great value, not much to complain about for the price

The impero was a bargain. Location was convenient for most things, staff were friendly, breakfast was brilliant, hotel decor was kitch in a good way. Rooms were really clean. My only gripe was with the bed; it was like sleeping on a slab of roman marble.

Cute little hotel near train station

The hotel is very close (2 blocks) from the train station and in a safe part of town. From the train station you can get a Hop on Hop Off tour bus for the day that takes you to all of the main attractions. There was a delicious hot breakfast buffet but beware, the internet is not free. It is 5 euro a day for one device. I would recommend this hotel for its great location and nice rooms.

I would stay again

It was good for the most part. Very close to all sites and the train station, which meant not dragging my luggage for long and no need of a cab either. The breakfast was ok every morning, but come on...10 euros for internet??? Seriously???

Young backpacking couple

Hotel Impero was a great find. Friendly staff and comfortable, clean and updated rooms. Very nice breakfast spread as well. The only downfall was having to pay for wifi (per device too). Location was great, a couple of blocks away from the train station but still in a decent area and within walking distance to major attractions such as the colosseum.

Nice Value, Comfort for Rome

I found the staff helpful and courteous, the roof-top terrace is a great place to relax (elevator to 4th floor and stairs to the 5th), and the room was adequate. Rome hotels often have smaller rooms, the Impero room I had was slightly larger than average featuring a bath slightly larger than average but still small shower. The breakfast looked fine although I only had the coffee and juice. The location is fantastic as it is about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the Colosseum, and I walked through to the Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and the Vatican; but that may be a longer walk than most want - I instead took every 'left' and 'right' on the journey to take in the sights of the city. Termini Stazione is 5 minutes and offers city buses, open-top tourist buses, cheap metro (6 euros gets you an unlimited day pass and is quick, cheap travel around the city), there is the Leonardo Da Vinci train that departs every 30 minutes for the Airport (FCO) for 14 euros - cheaper than the 45 euro taxi. There are many great Italian restaurants very close including the Alessio and Strega Gran Cafe, there is a Chinese restaurant that is simple and inexpensive and good just 4 doors down, and if you need a taste of home there is McD's in the Termini Stazione, a Hard Rock Cafe 15 minutes walk. Finally if you want inexpensive good food on the go or to stock your backpack/room, downstairs in Termini is a great market/store where you can load up on sandwiches, hot slices of pizza, roasted chicken, water/soda, snacks, and travel essentials for a very reasonable cost. (things one learns when in Rome on/off for 4 months)
