Just 300 metres from the Spanish Steps, Hotel Firenze is in the heart of Rome's historic centre. It offers elegant, functional rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom. The property is set in a historic building from the 19th century. Breakfast is served in a bright hall. A vending machine with hot drinks is available, and free Wi-Fi is offered at reception. All our bedrooms have recently been refurbished and have king-size or twin beds either. Thanks also to the smart and modern multi-lunguages staff who will make your holiday much comfortable.Just a couple minutes walk to the Spanish Steps and the stairs of Trinity of the Mounts. The entire renaissance area is walking distance; Trevi Fountain, Piazza del Popolo and the gardens of Villa Borghese.

This is not a three star it is one star at best

I had stayed at three other hotels while in Italy that were 4 stars. When I travel on business I usually stay at 3 star. This was no 3 star hotel. It looked like a cross between a crack house and the hotel from a horror movie. Anyone could have walked in off the street and up to the guest floors without passing the front desk or a locked door. My room was at the very end of the hall, up and down very stairs, past another hallway that led into a dead-end stairwell were cribs and mattresses were stored. The perfect place for someone to hide. I was afraid to stay there by myself and barricaded the door each night. There was never any hot water. I was told to let it run for a while but even after 20 minutes it was still ice cold. The phone in the room did not work so I had to call the desk from my cell using international minutes and was told they knew they had issues with their phone line. The wireless did not reach my room so I had to sit in the lobby. I heard other non-Americans checking in who were just as dissatisfied (so it just wasn't me being spoiled). I could go on forever, but it just makes me angry. This place ruined the last few days of a wonderful trip.

Firenze Hotel, Rome

Overall a good value budget hotel conveniently located right in the city centre. The room was kept very clean, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was an average continental. On the down side it was the smallest hotel room I have seen (in over 40 years of business and leisure travel) and very basic. One afternoon and evening there was no hot water. All in all, based on our experience it is struggling to get 3 stars. I would recomend this to anyone wanting a convenient budget hotel.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Do not book the hotel's transfers to/from the airport. They will send a taxi and charge around 60 euros for one transfer. Instead get one of the frequent shuttle buses from the airport for 4 euros. To return get a tube to Termini and get one of the frequent coach shuttles. Allow an hour to get to Fuimincio airport.
