Rude and Ridiculous

This is a very nice hotel although the location is quite terrible. We enjoyed the room, which was clean and in great condition, however the staff (minus the restaurant staff- they were very nice) was very rude to us throughout our stay. Also, we woke up in the morning and had no electricity; we called the front desk, and they said they would send someone up to fix it immediately, but after several more calls, we gave up and had to take showers in the dark and had no air conditioning. To top it off, we paid 20 euros for unlimited cable and internet, but we couldn't use it due to the lack of electricity. We asked the reception for a just a partial refund since we couldn't use the services we paid for, and they were extremely mean and accusatory. Needless to say, we did not get a refund. Though the hotel itself is nice, there are plenty of nice hotels out there. I'd suggest finding one where your have electricity and a consistently polite and considerate staff.

Rome Honeymoon

My wife and I went to Rome for our honeymoon and stayed at the Domina Hotel. The staff were very professional and our stay was wonderful. We stayed in their executive suite, the room was immaculately clean and incredibly modern. The bathtub was very large along with the bed, however the mattress was a tad on the firm side. We did not try the hotel pool, but it did have one. Breakfast in the morning which is provided free of charge was excellent, I haven't stayed at any other European hotels, so maybe it's common place, but compared to American continental breakfasts it was a big step up, the selection was very impressive. The staff were also very helpful, we requested for them to call cabs for us fairly often and arrange transport for us to and from the Airport, along with random other requests, they fulfilled them all. My only two gripes about the hotel really are it's location, and the charges for in room entertainment. It's a rather decent ways from the heart of Rome, probably about 5 miles outside the city proper and the shuttle runs at rather infrequent times, although they do provide you with a shuttle schedule which the shuttle follows fairly closely upon departure. However the shuttle is usually late picking people up from locations. A taxi to and from Rome can get expensive, about 25 euro a ride, so it's best to take the shuttle to the subway, which is very easy to use and can get you almost anywhere in Rome fairly easily. The other option is to use the bus system, bus 654 will take you to a stop at the corner of the main road near the hotel, but it also runs irregularly. The only other real downside was the in room entertainment charges. It's 20 Euro for 24 hour movie/internet/music service, which seems a bit steep. Otherwise it's 7 Euro an hour for the internet. I really wouldn't let the location discourage you though, this was a fantastic hotel, and once you get a handle on the public metro system it's really fairly easy to get in and out of the city. Overall my wife and I had an amazing time, Rome is a wonderful city and I would definitely recommend the visit if able. Hope this is useful, and happy travels!

Vacation in Rome

This was a very nice hotel at a reasonable price. The rooms are the nicest we experienced during our Italy vacation. The breakfast was substantial and very tasty. There is a small local pizza shop around the corner that has the best pizza we encountered in Italy. The location is a bit far from Rome but the public transportation system is good. An easy Metro ride and a short shuttle or bus ride makes getting to Rome fairly straight forward.

perfection ... at a distance from Rome

We arrived at the airport quite late, and the website was not clear enough about the shuttle, so we had asked for an alternative: we got a comfy Merc for 50 EURO.We arrived at the hotel, and were greeted by a friendly and professional staff. The room was roomy, with a huge and comfy bed, with upper class sheets, and a small flat screen TV.The next day, we puzzled out the connections with the downtown area. Buy a 1 EURO ticket per person per trip, it will get you anywhere. Choose between a shuttle to Cinecitta or Arco di Travertina, anyway, you'll end up on the [A]. Have it transport you downtown (eg Spagna) or in Vatican City (Cipro). When you come back, don't forget Cinecitta has a shopping centre with more than 100 stores. And if you head for Arco, I'll give you a little hint.About 100 yards from the buses, you'll find Hostaria da Maurizia. Don't go there if you only like your own country food. But if you want to eat "A La Italiana", try [...]. Tell him you don't like the Tourist Trap Food of DownTownRoma. He will show you all the fresh fish he has to offer you. He will prepare it in the perfect Italian Way.If you have to eat at the hotel, don't be afraid, though: at the bar, you have a modest choice between perfect small dishes. Don't be picky: here too, the cook handle's a balance between international and local taste. We had a great weekend there. Relaxed Atmosphere. Perfect Room. A busy Roma. And a coffee machine that serves you the perfect coffee. As it should be. Like the hotel is: as it should be.

Fancy digs for a decent price

Not at the center of the action, but a good loacation if you are renting a car and want to take a few day trips to the countryside. Would benefit from better access to public transportation grid, but that is obviously beyond their control. Included breakfast was very good.

Domina Hotel Rome

Rooms were very nice-sized for Italy. Because it is away from the center, transportation can be a problem and a wait. However, price and size of room is the tradeoff, so all in all, we had a good experience.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

One of the best pizza "joints" in all of Italy is a two block walk. At the end of the street where the supermarket is, turn left, and then, left again at the first corner. Walk about 50 yards for unbelievable pizza.
