The BEST WESTERN Hotel Astrid is a historical building in the Flaminio district, close to the Auditorium Parco della Musica and Piazza del Popolo. We are close to the Vatican and the heart of Rome. From the terrace, our hotel offers an unforgettable view of the Tiber, the dome of St. Peter and the centre. There are many good reasons to stay at the BEST WESTERN Hotel Astrid. Our hotel is run by a family of hoteliers who care about the professionalism of its employees. We offer a breakfast room with a charming terrace overlooking the Tiber and a view with the splendid dome of St. Peter at the horizon. The hotel is a wonderful neoclassical building, close to the city centre and an excellent starting point to reach the Vatican and the heart of the town. The guest rooms, just renovated, are equipped with Wi-Fi and LCD television. There is also a garage, on request, nearby. 10% national VAT included. Local city fee is 4 EUR per night per person over 10 years old. The additional fee is excluded and it will be paid directly at the hotel.

A great find

The location's great - quiet residential area but only 2 tram stops from Piazza del Popolo which is within the 48 euro fixed price zone for taxis from the airport. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, pro-actively providing a map and information when we checked in and being on hand to give advice and book taxis whenever needed. Really friendly and speak good English. Our rooms were quiet (as requested) and facing the internal courtyard. The breakfast room is fairly small but was never crowded, had a good selection of food and a great view across the river to St. Peter's. The only detractors were it would have been nice to have a bar and a lounge area to sit in, other than the breakfast room there didn't seem to be any public areas. A minor point though which didn't affect our enjoyment.

Get a Roma Pass! It was so worth it just to walk past the huge queue at the Colosseum and go straight in.

GREAT HOTEL!

The hotel staff was friendly right from the beginning. We enjoyed their service and hospitality. The amenities were amazing and we admired the staff for doing everything they can to help us. Although the noisy cars, trucks, mopeds, etc. didn't help much when sleeping at night, the view, balcony, and comfort of the room easily made up for it. While there isn't much to see around the hotel, just a few blocks and you are in the midst of Rome. Plus, this hotel gives you the added advantage of learning how their public transportation system operates. Overall, the hotel experience was amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

To save some money, take the city's public transportation system instead of a taxi. If you are travelling with a tourbus, try to stop near a shop that sells souveniers. The souvenier stands located by the monuments are expensive and try to get you be giving you a supposed discount. There are great retaurants all around. Don't be fooled by the appearance. Sometimes, even the most unusual looking restaurant serves one of the greatest foods in the city. The price may even be cheaper.
