The Aurelia Residence San Pietro is situated at 145 Via Aurelia - one of the oldest Roman roads - in the heart of Rome, a stone's throw from the Vatican City. Walk a few meters of the old road and reach Saint Peter's Basilica, the Audience Hall of Paul VI, the Auditorium S. Cecilia along Via della Conciliazione and the Tunnel, which leads you to Corso Vittorio Emanuele and hence to the historical and commercial city center. The area immediately surrounding the residence is full of shops and essential services such as pharmacies, supermarkets, bakery, bars and restaurants, laundry, Post office and banks. The Apartment hotel, composed of, 25 apartments, in different sizes, elegantly refurbished and equipped with every comfort, is located in a modern residential development surrounded by vegetation and built by the owners around the mid-Seventies. The large size of the apartments is the peculiar characteristic of the Aurelia, therefore, unique in its kind, is able to perform the best in the most varied travel needs. The development is divided into two blocks, named "A" "Raffaello" and "E" "Michelangelo". The Michelangelo block houses the medium- and large-size apartments, the Reception, the Club House - where the guests can enjoy a lavish buffet breakfast - and the Roof Garden, offering a view of the magnificent dome by Michelangelo. The Raffaello block, more secluded, houses the smaller-size apartments. A garage with 25 car parking lots is situated in the basement, with entrance from no. 141 Via Aurelia. The hotel also provides free breakfast. IMPORTANT: any arrivals after 19,30 during week days must be communicated to the hotel and after 13,30 during the weekends. Aurelia residence does not have a 24 hour reception.

Quiet. comfortable, and great value.

Me and my four three friends stayed at this residence for a short stay in Rome. We found it very comfortable for the four of us. Breakfast on the rooftop was very good. It was easily accessible with a bus stop close buy and the metro four blocks away. A short walk around the wall and we were in Saint Peter's square. Good food and shops nearby.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

A family run italian cafe on the other side of Saint Peters square near the Sistine Chapel had the best local fare at a great price.

Excellent family half term break

We enjoyed a wonderful half term holiday in Rome. The apartment was clean and spacious, ideal for a family of five with three young children. The staff were very polite and welcoming. The breakfast buffet had a good choice and we were well looked after by the waiting staff, confounding my husband's warning to the children that 'Italians don't go in for breakfast '. The residence is ideally located for all sight seeing with a five minute walk to St Peter's Square and about ten minutes to the Sistine Chapel. We also reached the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Forum and the Colosseum on foot but with a weary nine year old we often took the Metro back. We decided to take the Aurelia's local restaurant recommendations and enjoyed several good meals at La Caletta and the Goose Inn. We self-catered one evening and found the apartment equipment quite adequate for a simple evening meal. The Aurelia is near a railway line but the noise did not particularly bother us, this might be an issue in summer if you wanted to spend more time on the balcony. Our family had a great time and would not hesitate to return to the Aurelia.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

In February ignore the tour guides touting for business with the sign 'Skip the queues, come with me'. We walked straight into the Colosseum and the Sistine Chapel, no queues.
