Housed in an ancient, completely refurbished convent, the hotel San Francesco al Monte enjoys an enviable position in Naples, between the city centre and the picturesque San Martino hill. The large garden, boasting breathtaking views of the city, the magnificent outdoor swimming pool and the restaurant are ideal elements to make your stay here particularly pleasant and relaxing. All the hotel's unique rooms were once monks' chambers and have stunning views, but the views from the 7th floor are truly unbeatable. Here you will find San Francesco's beautiful roof garden, offering a 360 view of Naples and Vesuvius on one side and vineyards and Sant'Elmo on the other. Enjoy all this from one of the 2 pools located here, one of which contains a Jacuzzi. San Francesco Al Monte offers a relaxing stay in Naples. Much of the city can be reached by foot, but buses leave from just 33 ft away and will have you at the harbor in 10 minutes. The hotel also has good cable car and Metro links.

A Room with a View

Would recommend Sat, Sep 22, 2012
The view of the bay of Naples alone was worth far more than what we paid for this excellent hotel. Take a taxi to and from the train station, but once you are here, you are just a short funicular ride from the Via Toledo, where all of Napoli goes shopping. The staff were attentive and friendly, the room was spotless, and although our jacuzzi tub was broken, we still managed to have a lovely bath looking at Mount Vesuvius. The rooftop pool is spectacular. After a day of tromping around the ruins, there was nothing more relaxing than a quick dip in the pool.

Time saver

Take the funicular railway down to via Toledo to start your day in Naples. At the time of our visit, the subway was under a massive reconstruction, but when it is done, you will be very well connected at the via Toledo metro station.

Beautiful views

Would not recommend Thu, Jun 28, 2012
Hotel was very nice but pretty far from the Central Napoli train station that we took to Sorrento and Pompeii. Had to take a taxi to the station which cost on the average 20E and 35E to the airport plus tips. The marina was closer where we took a boat to Capri. There was not much to do in the immediate area nor many restaurants. Internet connection cost was expensive 10E per hour whereas other hotels were free in our Bologna hotel and 2E at our Rome hotel. Hotel rooftop pool was beautiful but was only open 9-5 where the area was used as rental space for non registered hotel guests. Wait staff were very accomodating and always had a smile. Hotel rooms were very nice with a sitting room off the bedroom outside the bathroom area and a jacuzzi jetted shower.
