Good But a Little Weird

We were coming into Milan on the train and were flying out of the Milan Malpensa airport the next day so we needed one night at a hotel near the main train/bus station. The Westin Palace fit the bill and we were able to walk (with our rolling luggage) from the station to the hotel. (It's a little bit hard to find because the Piazza della Repubblica is large.) The staff and service were good and we didn't use the amenities. Our room, however, was weird. It was apparently a workout room/sleeping room, which is what it said on the wall outside the room. To get to the room, we had to carry our luggage down nine or ten steps (no one warned us about this). Then the first thing we saw when we walked into the room was an exercise bicycle. There was also a medicine ball and weights. Strange. The room was large, clean, and quiet, however, so our stay was fine.

hotel cost and facilities

nice hotel, clean and comfortable room, with a wonderful large and comfortable bed. Steam and spa not really promoted, steam facilities not even listed in room hotel guide. Very expensive at the hotel, coffee 8 euros, and a sandwich 19-24 euros through room service, with an extra 7 euros cover charge. for the first time ever i had nothing at a hotel! i would rate it more like a 4 star, airport transfer from the airport was 100 euros, taxi going back 22 euros!

Westin Milan

The room was excellent - roomy, with a very comfortable bed. The staff was very courteous, the location for me is excellent, and I will definitely stay there again. (as long as the prices don't do up - Italian hotels are very expensive and this is no exception, but better than others that I have tried)

excellent experience

We were two mature couples on a tourist trip through Northern Italy [Milan, Lakes, Venice]. Our rooms were excellent beyond our expectations! The staff were courteous, helpful and spoke English. We visited the usual tourist sites in Milan and enjoyed our stay.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

We ate at the Cafe Republica which is two blocks behind the hotel. We experienced perfect service from an excellent waiter who spoke good English and enjoyed deliciously prepared food and excellent wine! I plan on eating there on my next visit to Milan.

"Good location, service, and comfort"

Seeing how I arrived three days late due to flight canellations they did accomodate me upon arrival. Although it took awhile and they gave me a room with luggage already in it, so they had to give me another. The check-in/out staff were a bit cold and unfriendly. The room was good sized and the bed was very comfortable. There was some exterior noise that came from the hallway, so I had to close the inner door to block it out. The hotel is a ten minute walk from the central train station, or you can take the Metro (Red Line) and go one stop to Repubblica and you exit, walk one minute and you are there.I did not eat at the hotel, so no comment on the food. Good Tip: they will not tell you at the hotel but the Malpensa Airport is accessable by Train Express, which leaves/retruns to Codurna and from there yoy can jump the Metro and land right in front of the hotel. If you take a taxi it will cost you seven times as much!
