Westin Milan

The room was excellent - roomy, with a very comfortable bed. The staff was very courteous, the location for me is excellent, and I will definitely stay there again. (as long as the prices don't do up - Italian hotels are very expensive and this is no exception, but better than others that I have tried)

excellent experience

We were two mature couples on a tourist trip through Northern Italy [Milan, Lakes, Venice]. Our rooms were excellent beyond our expectations! The staff were courteous, helpful and spoke English. We visited the usual tourist sites in Milan and enjoyed our stay.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

We ate at the Cafe Republica which is two blocks behind the hotel. We experienced perfect service from an excellent waiter who spoke good English and enjoyed deliciously prepared food and excellent wine! I plan on eating there on my next visit to Milan.

"Good location, service, and comfort"

Seeing how I arrived three days late due to flight canellations they did accomodate me upon arrival. Although it took awhile and they gave me a room with luggage already in it, so they had to give me another. The check-in/out staff were a bit cold and unfriendly. The room was good sized and the bed was very comfortable. There was some exterior noise that came from the hallway, so I had to close the inner door to block it out. The hotel is a ten minute walk from the central train station, or you can take the Metro (Red Line) and go one stop to Repubblica and you exit, walk one minute and you are there.I did not eat at the hotel, so no comment on the food. Good Tip: they will not tell you at the hotel but the Malpensa Airport is accessable by Train Express, which leaves/retruns to Codurna and from there yoy can jump the Metro and land right in front of the hotel. If you take a taxi it will cost you seven times as much!

Nice Hotel

This is a very nice hotel and up to Westin standards in every way except for the front desk. Our group of 4 checked in about 9:00 am after flying in overnight, and they had no rooms available for us at that time, which we expected. They offered to let us use the Health Club to shower and change. So far , so good. But when we came back later after check-in time, they still did not have rooms to assign to us, although there were other guests just arriving who were assigned rooms. Finally, after our protesting and complaining, they found rooms for us. This is not an experience one should have at a 5-star hotel.

Wonderful location, great staff

The Westin Palace was in a great location - 5 minute walk to the Central Station and the Metro was in front of the hotel. Via Montenapoleone, the most famous shopping street, was 2 Metro stops away, and the breathtaking Duomo was 3 Metro stops away. After staying in Italian chain hotels, the Westin Palace felt like home. The hotel interior was beautifully decorated and our room was very spacious.

Great experience

This was a fantastic luxury place to stay. The room was so comfortable I think it's the first time I haven't really felt jet-lagged. Convenient too. We walked to the Duomo multiple times, and back and forth to the train station too. I would say that the one disappointment was with the concierge's recommendation of a restaurant for dinner - "il Solferino" - food was expensive and so-so, and the service was surly.

Great Hotel

In the middle of our trip I booked this hotel on the same day when the original hotel I booked (to save some money) was far below expectations. The Westin was proof that you get what you pay for. This is a typical Westin with wonderful service and comfortable beds. When we checked in, they didn't have any Deluxe rooms with two twin beds available so the manager upgraded us to a Superiore room (room was very big for Europe) instead to accomodate us. Hotel is very clean and convenient to the Duomo area. Taxi rides to and from were inexpensive, but can add up. Traffic and bad drivers will add to the commute. From the Duomo and shopping, it can be a long walk if you are carrying a lot of things or at the end of a long day. It's not a modern hotel, but they've kept it in good condition.
